I don't think you should compare the series and the books their not following the same trail anymore so, what's the point?

Because they don't need to go off track. If they didn't cut so much shit they would have been fine, but they cut out so much, watered down so much more, and still continue to use stuff from the books, but what they use is so arbitrarily insignificant at times compared to the stuff they make up, so I don't understand why they didn't just take the last two books, combine them, and spread them out over these two seasons. Dance came out 5 years ago, I'm pretty damn sure season 5 hadn't started development until well, well after 2011. So... I don't know. Butcher storylines, remove others, combine fragments of others, good going I guess. It's just such a bizarre thing now.

While I certainly do enjoy the show as it is, I have to agree with Audiate here. Season 1 got me hooked so bad, the pacing was fantastic, dialogues on point and while they didn't have a great budget it was still an amazing season. And guess what, it was nearly 100% true to the books, with many conversations taken directly from the books, story exactly as in the books, etc.

@Windflower, I don't think anyone denied that the show is still one of the best pieces of television we have watched and in that genre certainly the best one I have seen. But denying that the show got remarkably worse since they strayed away from the books is just plain naive.

And no I am not a book reader per se. I watched the first three seasons before I read the books.

Tbh if anything the first season was probably the most boring until ned dies. At least with this season we are being prepared for something very good. Granted it probably doesnt need to take 7-8 episodes but hey they do what they want.

No. But he wasn't tying up his hair before he died. He got it cut, and then started keeping it tied back like that. Nothing major seemed to change in his day-to-day lifestyle between dying and being resurrected that would allow him to tie up his hair and nothing ever limited him from doing it. So why would he? It's not even like him or any northerner to anyway. And why would he do it when his hair is now shorter? It's really just illogical and while it's not a big deal in the plot or anything, it just shows how many damned hipsters are working in HBO's GoT teams now.
