I'd just like to interject my opinion into one matter if I could please. The Glengarry Light Infantry were never issued rifles during the War of 1812, though in 1814 they did get special muskets with actual sights on then, but other then that they never did get muskets. Another thing I'd like to say is that if you wanted to you could add another American unit, The Canadian Volunteers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Volunteers) One last thing, the 93rd only really saw action at the Burning of Washington and I think at New Orleans, you could put the 8th Kings or the 100th Regiment of Foot in their place, but still this is just my opinion you guys are doing an awesome job from what I've seen. Keep up the good work
Let me explain some of the reasons for the choices that were made for the units list and the way we equipped them.
Glengarry Light Infantry: We gave them a rifle option because they are dressed as a rifle regiment and it is conceivable that they would have had at least one company or some specialist marksmen armed with rifles. Also, we needed to arm a British/Canadian unit with a rifle for gameplay balance and adding a rifle option to the Glengarry's allowed us to do this without adding an additional unit.
Canadian Volunteers: They were not included because they had no standard uniform. They wore civilian clothes with a white brassard tied around thier arms. Adding units like this dramatically complicates and increases modeling and texturing since it's members are going to have to be represented in a variety of dress (similar to the Russian partizans). Also, I don't think they ever existed in large numbers during the war and usually attached themselves to other bigger units during battles.
93rd Highlanders: We included the 93rd because we wanted representation from the southern theater of the war, New Orleans being one of the maps that was made for the game. Also, their distinctive dress of humble (featherless) bonnets and trews (tartan trousers) adds to the diversity of the mod. Finally, people just love Highlanders.
8th Foot "King's": We have decided to include this regiment in our mod since they fought in more engagements then any other British unit during the war. They are replacing the 1st Royal Scots which were removed from our unit list.
