Glory to the Gay Gordons!
I think we would prefer you to use "merry" rather then gay seeing as that term has a new meaning in this day and age then it did back in the 19th century.
Don't worry about it! Here in Scotland they are still known as the "Gay Gordons" and at a céilidh we have a dance called "The Gay Gordon".
Talking about The Gay Gordon dance, I had to do that at School recently. Every year we have a big céilidh near Christmas, it's pretty fun.

Though I've been out of school for a few years now. We used to do that every Christmas, too. However, we often have a céilidh at least a few times a year in the Highlands.
School christmas dinner anyone?! Those were the days.
Dekkers has become the community's designated old man with alzheimers who sits in the corner reminiscing about simpler times, happier times... "The spins" he wails "do you remember the SPINS!!!"
At the First Battle of Bull Run, Jackson reportedly ordered the 4th Virginia, "Reserve your fire until they come within 50 yards! Then fire and give them the bayonet! And when you charge, yell like furies!" This is possibly the first use of the Rebel Yell.
Of course, I also think lines should be able to move in double rank without having emotional breakdowns.
