I agree, even though I hate everyone's music. Then again, all I've been listening to lately is the soundtrack from Les Miserables, so the problem might be with me rather than everyone else.
The only singing I liked from that movie was the military dude! I forget his name but still!
I assume you're talking about Javert, who is a police inspector and not in the military. And Marshal, you crazy. The singing may not have been pitch perfect, but that's the point. Every other rendition you'll see of this musical will have amateur actors with perfect singing, but lacking depth and emotion. This film version of Les Miserables was gritty, honest, at times overwhelmingly dark, and at others consolatorily uplifting. It gave the story and songs the emotion they deserved. And the fact that the actors sang everything live while acting makes their singing quite impressive, in my opinion.
