Why Second Lieutenant?

I noticed today, that the forum rank below lieutenant was second lieutenant, a rank used exclusively in rifle regiments, so I put two and two together, and am now adamant that the forums are a rifle regiment- based ranking system.

Remember that these are US Army ranks, not 19th century British army ranks. The 2nd Lieutenant rank is actually in the regular US army command structure.
