Ave!

You may be wondering why Greeks are fighting in the Roman Civil war. Well it's the most simple of reasons. Money. We fight on either side as either a Hoplite company or light auxilia (Balearic slingers and Creten archers.) This allows us maximum flexibility and can help with event leaders too as we can always fill in gaps on either side.

Our ranking system is based off the ancient Spartan ranking system as this is a Greek company, not a Roman legion. There isn't much room for ranking, as we are all brothers in arms and therefore equal. Do not forget, we are Greeks, fathers of democracy!

Harmost: Literally Military Governor. The leader of the company.

Hippagretai: An officer rank.  All officers have an equal say on military matters and are only superior on the battlefield by seniority; i.e whoever was granted Hippagretai  first takes command first.

Hipparmostes: An upper NCO rank. Essentially the top NCO/CO in training. Sort of like a sergeant major. Same rules on seniority apply.

Hippies: Literally Cavalryman. However in Spartan military ranks a Cavalryman was actually a Royal guard, and if in the regular Spartiate army considered a (lower) NCO of sorts. As applies with the all seniority rules., all NCO's have the same say on company matters when asked but on the battlefield, should all Harmost fall, the most senior Hippies takes lead.

Isos: Literally Peer or Equal. This is the rank held by all privately employed men of the company who have reached some level of ability and has been with the company for a while.

Neosýllektos: Literally recruit or rookie. The starting rank in the company.

Our teamspeak; (for now, will be changing over soon:) ffl-official.teamspeak3.com (yes I know, we used to be the FFL in blood and iron)

For those looking for gold and glory, take it! It's yours... you merely need to pledge your life to the company! AOUU!

"Let Bacchus' sons be not dismayed
and join with me each jovial blade
come drink and sing and lend your aid
to help me with the chorus!
Oh, instead of spar we'll drink brown ale
and pay the reckoning on the nail
no man for debt shall go to jail
from Garryowen in glory!"

So will you be using the Ptolemaic faction since they're a Greek successor state?

Yes when possible, though we only attend Getty's event currently and I don't think he will be doing Roman vs Ptolemaic events. If he does we'd much rather go Ptolemaics :)

But yeah, move this thread to Ptolemaic Legions since I help run the Ptolemaic army :)

Clare nepos Atlantis, ades, quem montibus olim
     edidit Arcadiis Pleias una Iovi:
pacis et armorum superis imisque deorum
arbiter, alato qui pede carpis iter,
laete lyrae pulsu, nitida quoque laete palaestra,
quo didicit culte lingua docente loqui,
templa tibi posuere patres spectantia Circum
Idibus; ex illo est haec tibi festa dies.

Best of luck from your new friends, Cohors Praetoria [XI]!
