British and austrian politicians (also their monarchs) were smart enough to not enter this war.
If France and Prussia just weren´t fighting about Alsace-Lorraine maybe the terrible WW1 with all its consequences would have not happened since this very region was the french demand and cause for ww1. But without this "battle for germany" a united germany without austria wouldnt have been created. Maybe this would have also been better since nationalism only got stronger afterwards. In the end one can say: War is never a good idea

They just should have been peacefull like the austrians with all their parades and stuff

The Austrians didn't enter the war because they had been crushed by Prussia in a similar war four years earlier. Britain didn't enter because being neither a defender nor a belligerent, there was nothing they could gain from entering.

I also might add that in the Congress of Vienna in 1815 a sort of agreement had been concluded among the majors powers that prevented major widespread conflict between powers, by making it so that powers agreed to not intervene on behalf or against other major power in an isolated war. This was followed for the most part, and only broken a couple of times, like in the Crimean war for instance. It effectively prevented a major outbreak of war for 100 years.
