If it was my mod, I'd say sod it and just have it all set around the general era of 1870.

Given all this debate I'll make a poll about what should be done.

Willhelm,
What things do you see possibe within the mod as the new patch just came out.
Is there anything from there that can be used in the mod?

Mods are essentially independent of the game version. Especially considering the patch mainly involves tweaking NWs balance which doesn't apply here.

Right, i'll have a go, it's probably easier to port the naval stuff to the mod than switch the mod to the new version.

No... Viviandiere were women who served as medics and helped the sick and wounded with eating, drinking, bathing, etc. Think of them as modern day battlefield nurses.

The answer for a possible edition to your excellent mod, aside from a few cosmetic touches, such as uniform and weapon textures, and the addition of 'Vivandière' as medics for the French, is quite obvious; the Second Mexican Empire!!  It was created by the Mexican Congress with the support of Napoleon III of France, who attempted to establish a monarchist ally in the American Continent. You could include both the uniforms and regiments of the Imperialist faction, as well as the Republican rebels who staunchly resisted the French and the Emperor of Mexico, the Austrian Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian.

Is there Evidence of the Second Mexican Empire physically helping the Second French Empire during the war?
