The 3rd one looks really messed up in Openbrf, it doesn't look much like that in game, it doesn't have the weird squares. Yeah i think theres too much bump mapping on the 2nd one.

glad to be apart. Definitely give me some updates
Of course, I also think lines should be able to move in double rank without having emotional breakdowns.

image of fighting during the battle of Sedan, franco-prussian war. here you can see prussian lines drawn up and firing with many dead and wounded around. this type of warfare was still around at the time and it wasn't until 1884 that Hiram Maxim's new invention was introduced. breach loading weapons of better quality continued to be developed through this last half of the century and also artillery was further developed as these new rifles now had greater range then the canister fire range of canons so better use of howitzers began to develop with there range and accuracy increasing each time.
the franco prussian war was the last major war between two european powers until WW1 which by then no one had any real experience with the new inventions leading to old age tactics being used and the slaughter that followed.

You know, I've read a great deal of debate on whether that photo is staged or not. On the one hand it does look staged, but the question is when was there a chance to stage it? it's a French photograph, and as the entire French army was captured at the Battle of Sedan, there was no chance for the French to stage it (one can tell it was after or during the battle by the destruction). The Germans faking a battle for a French photographer seems a rather unlikely situation.

Another thing in its favour is the existence of another photograph from the same location.

This second photo looks much more realistic. You can see heavy gunfire in the direction of actual people (and I doubt they carried blanks around), lots of smoke all around and what appears to be a large explosion in the upper right corner.

Even if they are staged, they're still are useful images of the battlefield taken shortly after the battle. If they are real, they are some of the earliest photographs of combat ever taken, though I have seen one from the US Civil War that looks very much to be of a battle.

There's also a huge lack of WWI combat photos, most being waiting areas or far away from the actual combat.

Or of course training photos or staged.
