The Barbary Wars were two wars fought at different times over the similar reasons between the United States of America,Sweden, and the Barbary States of North Africa in the early 19th century. At issue was the Barbary pirates' demand for tribute from American merchant vessels in the Mediterranean Sea. If ships of a given country failed to pay, pirates would attack the ships and take their goods, and often enslave crew members and hold them for ransom. The 1st Barbary War was the first international war the US took part in.

A Message from the Team

Hello and welcome to the Barbary Wars mod thread. We are the team from the now dead Boer Wars mod, or at least a portion of the original team. We have decided to quit the Boer Wars mod and make a mod that we think we can work with to a greater extent. This mod will feature a mix of naval and infantry units, seeing as the Barbary Wars had both naval and land battles during the wars. Hopefully we will find a way to make naval battles more "organized" and we are going to try to add some new aspects to them as well. Hopefully this mod will be more successful then our last one. Keep in mind as I said on the Boer Wars mod thread, we are amateur modders and it takes time to make stuff for the mod, so be patient.
