Welcome to the 113th Leinster Rifle Regiment!
While there are many skirmish regiments in the community the 113th offers a unique experience. Based partially on the historical fighting style of such units as the 60th Royal American Rifles and 95th Regiment of Foot and partially on the diversity of experiences offered by the current regiments we seek to combine history and fun. We work in the partner system of the historical riflemen so that every pair of riflemen get they're own teamspeak channel and operate semi-independently. This allows us to group serious mature players who just want to play the game separately from lighter hearted players who like a chat during they're line battle. After passing a marksmanship test members are paired off or chose a partner and will form a unit in our skirmish line who operate almost without interference except for dire emergencies (cavalry).
With our new experimental approach we hope to increase all our players skills and have a good time (while using historically accurate techniques). While one result of this system is the decrease in promotion prospects and officer responsibilty we provide recognition in terms of awards, badges and battle honours.
Enlisted Ranks
- Recruit - Rct On joining the regiment everyone serves as a recruit, an unpaired trainee, until they pass a marksmanship test/challenge. Passing this will allow them to gain promotion and earn their first badge.
- Private Soldier - Pvt Having won their marksman badge an enlisted man becomes a Private. Just under half the force is composed of privates who serve as the junior rifleman in any one of our pairs. Privates can remain so indefinitely though promotions will be available to Chosen Man for consistent performance as well as various awards in recognition of service and skill.
- Chosen Man - ChM While not having reached the status of a non-commissioned officer these men have proven themselves as riflemen and have been singled out for potential advancement. They are the senior partner in half the regiments pairs.
Non-Commissioned Officers
- Corporal -Cpl These veterans have been singled out from the Chosen Men. An addition to their combat skills they have shown commendable initiative and are now waiting for a vacant Sergeancy. While they wait they remain in the ranks fighting as the senior member of a pair.
- Sergeant - Sgt The Sergeant is a strange creature, he doesn't fight in the ranks as part of a pair but he isn't a true officer. Sergeants serve as the enforcers for the commissioned officers and leaders in dire circumstances. A Sergeants responsibilities include 'advising' the officer on the promotion of enlisted men. A Sergeant may hope for further advancement as an NCO or can receive a field commission to Ensign in recognition of an outstanding feat of martial skill.
- Colour Sergeant - CSgt Sergeants of uncommon strength and melee skill, these men have been selected as the guards of the regimental colours.
- Recruiting Sergeant - RSgt Sergeants with special responsibilities as recruiters, these men fall slightly outside the hierarchy but are considered equal to Colour Sergeants.
- Sergeant Major - SgtM These are the longest serving enlisted men, veterans of countless battles. While their duties are not so different from those of a normal Sergeant this is a recognition of their dedication to serving the regiment.
- Regimental Sergeant Major - RSM The RSM is a mix of Officer, adviser, adjutant and a Captain of Sergeants. The RSM spends to much time online and probably has almost no life. He is also responsible for choosing and promoting Sergeants.
Commissioned Officers
- Ensign -Esn An Ensign is an apprentice officer who has no real command responsibility. An Ensign carries the colours and observes (and listens to the team speak of) senior officers.
- Lieutenant - Lt The most junior of the officers with his own command, in our regiment he keeps an eye on enemy and allied movement and terrain as well as ensuring the performance of his men.
- Captain - Cpt The Captain is the highest ranking officer (for the time being) and technically has over all command in a battle as well as responsibility for running the regiment.
