Organised sieges.
« on: May 14, 2013, 11:14:34 am »
What would you think of an organised siege, where each team has a leader and each regiment given a place to storm or defend. Instead of the disorganised rush for the unbreached unbreachedwalls which often happens.

Anyone else think this could work?

Riddlez thinks yes, though you would require a bit serious colonels, who aren't against following orders.

Though, Riddlez thinks this would also be nice in normal battles
Probably one of the very few old-timers here who hasn't been a regimental leader.

I agree organizing a proper attack in a massed horde is profitable but it it gives the enemy too much to focus on, it gives them a funel to shoot at if everyone is at the same place.

It could work if you found a few regs that would take orders :P

Indeed. Also, unbalanced teams (60 defends 140 attackers) with one life maybe?

Maybe more like 120 attackers and 80 defenders to make it a tad bit more balanced, but yeah I like that idea.

i think it would work best if it was split into 3 equal groups then have two attacking to one defending

In the original grand campaign there were a few sieges that took place. It was done on battle mode, 1 life per person, each round went on for a very long time but it was incredibly fun.

Having experienced defending and attacking a few times, both require a lot of communication. Back then it was done with Generals with whispers list and usually with the officers of each regiment communicating with each other via whispers too.

Organised sieges are my most fond memory of MM and I would love for it to return, with Generals and whisper lists preferably.

Edit: A video made by own of the 95th members for a GC siege event, not exactly serious.

I remember this, the big wooden fort with the street fighting was awesome. Battle was indeed a much better mode for that.

Dam loved those events back in the day...  :-X

Im kind of doing this idea with my historical battle conquests. I had the idea to give specific regiments a flag to spawn at the represent different flanking maneuvers and such.

Sounds pretty cool at a siege too though.

Well I was thinking sieges in battle mode has some real potential too. Just giving the siege game mode the option for limited attacker lives would be perfect.
