The guardsman's kepi is kind of messed up, at least the shape of the kepi itself is.

Yours is very oddly shaped in the back. It's flat, and has no folds or anything in it.

Spent quite abit of time on it unfortunately the heads in NW don't see to allow for a proper shape ad the skull starts poppin out and only way around that would be to make it ridiculously large.

But the one that it was being coppied from had no fold and is a similar messed up shape.

That's definitely just the drawing style. They used kepi's identical to the ones the Americans used, since the Americans had the majority of influence on the Imperial uniforms and military tactics.

I believe they got the hats from the French or at least copied them which don't seem as flexible as the American. While the are still small folds they don't seem as noticable and would probably be better done using a bump map rather than making the model bumpy.

I believe it was the British who had the most influence on the Imperials as that is who they got most of their weapons and had close relations with.

I was wondering, Atilla, if you had considered updating your 71st reskin at all. They didn't actually wear a shako but t'was in fact a stretched Kilmarnock bonnet. Additionally their buttons were done in single pairs not doubles.

If you do consider redoing it just send me a message and I'll get you some good reliable information on their uniforms.

I'm not rating the book at all, but the picture of the Bonnet is to my knowledge just about right, what he has written about it, clearly isn't.

But if it's the book I suspect it is then it's by a chap called Digby Smith.
