Then they must not have been very invested in the game in the first place. It's all about personal circumstances. Some real life things are more important than others anyway. Usually when someone says they need to leave to get their schoolwork/social life in place they're gone for a while until they realize there is a way to both play games and get shit done IRL in a healthy way. The only thing I can really think of that would entirely prevent you from playing video games is if you moved to some area or country with no internet or electricity, or if you or your family suddenly became dirt poor and you had to sell everything, or if your parents freaked out on you and took away all your fun stuff. Most people who leave don't encounter any of those problems, therefore they're back within the month.
