just a suggestion, if someone refused to play they are disqualified, and the person that they refused to play with is either paired with another person who doesnt have a partner/whose partner refused to play with them, and if theres no one for him to be paired with they might be a sub for a team? idk

Potential idea: 2 player pools, High and Low. Instead of selecting who will be with who based on  how you rank, we randomly select a player from each side to create a pair

edit; so more randomized but eliminating the possibility of a stacked pair

Idk if this is possible but maybe a committee made up of people who have played the game since the old gen ages that can accurately (as accurate as humanly possible in a situation like this) determine which players should be put together. As an example, 3 people from the LG community, 3 people from the 3eVolt community, 3 people from the 93rd community, 3 people from the USMC community, etc. And yes this might be a stupid idea but I'm just brainstorming how to make this more balanced.

Or maybe some kind of test that judges the skills of the best players, I think we can decide who is in the top tier but not who is better than who

We might do two tiers instead then randomly choose a person from each using a generator to avoid bias.

Again this is just to figure out who will sign up and actually play. Also to figure out how we'll do it.
