Firstly thanks to everyone for such an engaging response to a new season of NWBC - hopefully it doesn't fall short of the hype.

Opinion appears to be fairly split on the addition of lights but there are also quite a few reg leaders which ticked both, indicating they would be happy with either option. Ultimately since there are a reasonable number of votes for arty aswell it only seems right to meet half way; we will proceed this season with 2 Lines, Lights and Cavalry.

The lead post will be updated next week with a proper thread, at which point sign-ups can commence

Feel free to keep this post active for rules discussion if there was anything you liked/disliked from last season or indeed the more recent 2v2 tournie...

I was away in the past few days but i wanted to say that I am really looking forward to this
Also, even though my opinion is late, i think a SINGLE artillery piece per side, greatly enhances tactical gameplay.

Gives me fond memories of our horse arty scripts... it made trains go twice as fast aswell as instant limber/unlimbering + all crew spawned mounted on heavy horses. They were the most mobile unit on the field bar light cav not sure how they would suit a tournie though haha

Well Kincaid. Even without arty horse scripts we have found ways to play mobile artillery with the 16th. But as I said i only spoke for ONE gun per side.

Arty carried the last events too much. I guess it is only fair to give the line and cav, who have no idea what a cannon is, some ease of mind. When they face arty that can actually hit things they get scared enough to remove it from their event!

Its not about all of us being afraid of Arty or anything like that. Arty will just turn rounds into taking 30mins and more because either side cant decide to do anything else then camping. With that it not only takes the fun away for the majority of the participants, it also means the winner is the one with more patience which would destroy the whole competitive side of this event.

This can be fixed by.
1) Have only one artillery piece per side.
2) Use maps were the spawn points are complete rubbish for arty and teams actually have to use combined arms to get their guns useful
3) Disallow sappers.

I don't get why everyone in this community has this fixed idea that the artillery has to camp a hill and get a big ass Fort around it.
