Custom Sigs/Titleplates/Banners/Avatars and now Threads!
« on: April 04, 2013, 12:04:27 am »
Hello NW community,

I've made a few... "things..." so far, and Idk if I'll keep up too much with this, like what happened with my "I'll make you a regiment thread." But, basically, to give me something to do, I've recently found a program that is so good and so similar to Photoshop (And free! Teehee), I've fell in love with it, and have been making lots of Sigs/Titleplates/Banners/Avatars. I take Napoleonic Wars (Napoleonic Wars 1805-1816)/Battle Cry of Freedom (American Civil War 1858-1863) requests only... Below is a description for requests.

1. The Signature: A simple signature to be put in your profile. It's a display of whatever you'd like, and will show up in below every post. (I.E. My signature is text, it displays at the bottom of everyone one of my posts.)
2. The Titleplate: This is a picture, or some variation of text, that is often put on top of a regiment thread. It's a nice way to add some "pizzazz" to a post.
3. The Banner (Not 100% if I can pull this off): A banner is an ingame picture displayed above players' heads. It's a symbol of an identity, used by everyone.
4. The Avatar: Simple. It's what your picture is under your name! Like mine, which is a French Guard Seamen of the Bataillon des Marins de la Garde Imperiale.
Here's what I've done so far.

The 45th New York is being built upon a quality gaming experience and aims to teach the soldiers the history of the American Civil War and the effect of large amounts of Immigration into the United States before, during, and after the war that claimed the lives of over 600,000 American and non-American soldiers and civilians. This is for people who want a serious and fun experience on a great mod!

Brief History of the 45th

The 45th New York Volunteer Infantry was organized in New York city by Colonel Gerhard von Amsburg, a veteran Austrian cavalry officer and revolutionary in the Hungarian revolution of 1848. It was recruited almost wholly of Germans, and put in the service of the United States for three years. On September 14, 1861 it received its numerical unit designation from New York State. For the next month it encamped at the Landmann's Park section of Jones's Wood, at 3rd Avenue and 69th Street in Manhattan, and continued to recruit. Since 1991 this intersection on the east side of 3rd Avenue has been the location of Trump Palace Condominiums, but in the second half of the 1800s it was wooded, and a popular recreation area frequented by German immigrants. Before the 45th New York was known as such, it was but a mess of dirty, untrained German, Austrian, and Swiss Immigrants. The regiment recieved its numerical and state on September 14th, 1861. At the time of its State inspection for muster into United States service the regiment consisted of 743 troops, organized in 10 companies and a band. By October 1861 it numbered 860, plus the accompanying band at 24 pieces.

Service of the 45th

Shortly after a training and equipment stock period, the regiment left the State October 9, 1861 where it served in Stand's Brigade, Blenker's Division, Army of the Potomac.
October 12, 1861, the 45th New York is transferred into the 1st Brigade, Blenker's Division, Mountain Department.
April, 1862 it served in the 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 1st Corps, Army of Virginia.
June 26, 1862 it served in the same brigade and division, nth Corps, Army of the Potomac.
September 12, 1862 the 45th New York served in the 1st Brigade, 3d Division, 11th Corps, Army of the Potomac.
June, 1863 service in the 3d Brigade, 1st Division, 20th Corps.
April, 1864 it saw service in the 4th Division, 20th Corps, at Nashville, Tennessee, Department of Cumberland.
July 6, 1864, the corresponding company to the 58th Infantry at Nashville, Tennessee.

Rules & Expectations of the 45th

  • Be merry with your fellow soldier: Growing relationships with the man next to you is great and boosts morale! (Treat other as you would want to be treated!)
  • The Colonels word is LAW: Do not break orders on your own accord, otherwise suffer consequences. (We. Will. Flog. You!)
  • Presence: You are expected to be present at all trainings and line battle events unless the Colonel is informed otherwise. (Failure to inform your Colonel will be considered desertion after the third time, and you will be removed from the regiment.)
  • Immaturity is not allowed: It's okay to have fun, that's what this is all about. However, there is a fine line between having fun and being immature. (Otherwise face the consequences!)
  • Experience: We expect you to grow your skills in combat, whether it's your ability to attack and block effectively with bayonet and/or sword, or your abilities as a marksman. (We strive to be a great regiment full of very capable soldiers.)
  • Chat Permissions: Anyone is allowed to talk when playing in a public server. During training or line battle events, the Permission to Speak (PTS) rule DOES apply! These are times to be serious!(Do not talk without asking your Colonel, "Sir, Permission to Speak Sir!" or, "Sir, PTS Sir!")
  • Most important rule: HAVE. FUN!

Ranks of the 45th

The long-term goal of the 45thNY is to open the regiment into three companies. There will be two line infantry companies and a supporting skirmish infantry company. Each line infantry company will have a high-command as follows: a Captain, a First Lieutenant, a Second Lieutenant, and a Sergeant Major in command. However, the skirmish infantry company, since it will be smaller, will have a high-command as follows: a Captain and two Sergeant Majors.

Promotions are achieved for bringing in fellow soldiers, showing skill in battle, tenure, and ability to lead fellow soldiers!

Spoiler
Officer Structure

Colonel (Col)
The absolute top. This man leads all companies of the regiments and commands the captains, who lead their companies. This man conducts and reviews all drills, has the ability to promote those who are deserving, and shows exceptional skill in combat and leadership.

Lt. Colonel (LtCol)
The Colonel's second in command, and right hand man. The Lieutenant Colonel stays close to the Colonel at all times and oversees the regiment. These men are not always counted on to lead, but are counted on keeping extreme discipline in the regiment and amongst all companies of the 45thNY.

Major (Mjr)
Major's are third in the high-command tree. They are the most well rounded soldiers and thus are required to perform as such. These men are the epitome of excellence! They are superior leaders. These men lead the regiment to victory!

Captain (Cpt)
A Captain leads a company. These men are considered fourth in the high-command tree. The will carry out the orders for the company given to them by the Colonel.

First Lieutenant (FLt)
The First Lieutenant, much like the Second Lieutenant is to keep strict order above their lessers. These men will lead their company if their Captain is to fall. These men show extreme skill in leadership.

Second Lieutenant (SLt)
The role of a Second Lieutenant is to keep strict order above their lessers. These men will lead battles. They are extraordinary people, they will also take the role of a drillmaster when need be. These men will lead their company if their superiors are to fall.

Sergeant Major (SgtMjr)
The Sergeant Major is the first step to true leadership! These men have accomplished an officer training progression and show exceptional leadership skills on the battlefield. These men are also very capable soldiers both in melee and at range. These men are prime examples of discipline to their fellow lesser soldiers. These men will lead their company if the Captain, First Lieutenant, and Second Lieutenant are killed.

NCO Structure

Quartermaster Sergeant (QSgt)
These men are given tasks by the colonel which must be carried out. Whether it's doing a roster check or simply just carrying out a drill, these men do not have very much leadership roles.

First Sergeant (FSgt)
First Sergeants carry the same skill in leading as Sergeants, but also hold very capable melee skills. These men lead others when their superiors have fallen on the field of battle.

Sergeant (Sgt)
Similar to the Corporals, these men keep higher order in battle while following orders themselves. This rank is awarded to those who have shown good skill in leading.

Corporal (Cpl)
The Corporals job is to maintain order in a line or skirmish line while following orders from their superiors. This rank is awarded to those who have shown skill in leading, but are not ready for a full role of leadership.

Enlisted Structure

Veteran Private (VtrnPvt)
Veteran Privates are a step above the Private. They're job is the same as a Private, however these are the men who have shown superb melee combat skills on the battlefield. These men are to set an example to those of lesser rank.

Private (Pvt)
The Private is the most basic of ranks in the 45thNY. They are the standard foot soldier who's job is to listen to orders, carry out commands effectively from their superior, and maintain a strict discipline on the battlefield.

Musician Private (MscPvt)
The Musician Private is a private who rather would show musical expertise than fighting expertise, all the while livening the men up. The Musician Private also helps keep order in with drills in training as we practice to march and move to the beat of the music. However, while still being a private, some instances Musician Privates will be asked to bring a gun to battle if we're few on men.

Private Volunteer (PvtVol)
Private Volunteers are soldiers who aren't full time, rather more mercenaries. They fight on their own accord. After 15 Line Battle events with the 45thNY, a Volunteer is given a promotion to the Private Volunteer. This is the highest mercenary rank.

Veteran Volunteer (VtrnVol)
Veteran Volunteers are soldiers who aren't full time, rather more mercenaries. They fight on their own accord. After 5 Line Battle events with the 45thNY, a Volunteer is given a promotion to the Veteran Volunteer.

Volunteer (Vol)
Volunteers are soldiers who aren't full time, rather more mercenaries. They fight on their own accord. This is the beginning rank for these soldiers.

Spoiler

History of the "Fighting 98th."

The Fighting 98th was first conceived in Chichester, Great Britain in 1761. It then disbanded in 1763. It was was reformed once again in Chichester, Great Britain in 1780, and fought in the American War of Independence and after was once again disbanded in 1789 for the second time. In 1794, the regiment was reformed in Shropshire, Scotland and became known as the Fighting 98th Argyllshire Regiment of Foot. However, as leadership of the regiment waned, it ultimately disbanded for the third time in 1799. In 1803, a Sir Thomas Burke reformed the regiment with over 400 Scots and Englishmen and became the Fighting 98th once again. However, in 1804 the regiment was assigned a new numerical designation. It became the 99th Regiment of Light Foot (Prince of Wales's Tipperary Regiment). The 98th, now called the 99th, served from 1804 to 1816 where it was once again disbanded two years later in 1818. It reformed in 1824 as the 97th Regiment of Foot with the numerical designation it had used previously. The regiment served as the 97th until 1876 where it was renamed back to it's former name, the 98th Prince of Wales's Regiment of Foot. In 1881, the regiment merged with the 64th Regiment of and became the 2nd Battallion, North Staffordshire Regiment of Foot. It served as such until 2007 where it amalgamated with the 22nd Cheshire Regiment and the Worchester/Sherwood Foresters Regiment to form the the 3rd Staffordshire Battallion, Mercian Regiment. It serves as such to this day.

The 98th is recorded as being the most reformed regiment in British History.

Will be updated. I have made plenty.

Note #1: Sigs, Titleplates, and Avatars are all made transparent! This is so you don't have an unnecessary white background accompanying what I make, thus making the picture "ugly."
Note #2: Sigs, Titleplates, and Avatars take time to make! I am very thorough, particular, and like my works to be done professionaly. It's not going to be, "Here! This picture, make it nice. You have 30 minutes." No. No. And again, No. You can give me a picture, or something you want, I will be done, when I'm done.

Note #3: Everything I make is free for everyone to use. Just, be sure to give credit to me for making what I make... Thanks.

Do you want to make a request? Make one in the following format! In each question, please bold the corresponding request, followed by your answer! (I.E. "Signature, Titleplate, Banner, or Avatar? Titleplate.")

Code
1. Signature, Titleplate, Banner, Avatar, or Thread?
2. What would you like as your Signature, Titleplate, Banner, or Avatar?
3. Any specific photo(s) you'd like for your Signature, Titleplate, Banner, or Avatar?
4. Any specific text, quote, etc. for your Signature, Titleplate, Banner, or Avatar?

For Threads
Code
Name of Regiment:
Region:
(do not copy) Please PM all info you would like on your thread. Thanks.

I want this to be made clear, if you rush me for whatever reason, or nag me to work faster, I will cease my work on your request, and you can piss off. Refer to Note #1 and Note #2 above.

Note #4: Currently NOT taking requests for banners. I have to learn how to edit banners first. The banners will be updated in a "pack" and will copied as a mod to your Napoleonic Wars folder.

I look forward to receiving your requests!

You're very welcome! Glad to do it for you. By the way, I have  picture of Cambronne, commander if the immediate Imperial Guard. And, I also have a picture of an Old Guard Lt. Col. If you'd like either of those, I'd be more than happy to make them into nice avatars! :D
