Irish Brigade
under the command of
Brigadier General Patriots

The Irish Brigade was an infantry brigade, consisting predominantly of Irish Americans, that served in the Union Army in the American Civil War. The designation of the first regiment in the brigade, the 69th New York Infantry, or the "Fighting 69th", continued in later wars. The Irish Brigade was known in part for its famous war cry, the "Faugh a Ballaugh", which is an anglicization of the Irish phrase, fág an bealach, meaning "clear the way". According to Fox's Regimental Losses, of all Union army brigades, only the 1st Vermont Brigade and Iron Brigade suffered more combat dead than the Irish Brigade during America's Civil War.

Eastern Iron Brigade
under the command of
Brigadier General Devil

The Eastern Iron Brigade, also known as the Iron Brigade of the East and First Iron Brigade, was a brigade of infantry, that served in the Union Army's Army of the Potomac, during the American Civil War. For much of its service, it was designated as the 1st Brigade, 1st Division, I Corps. Among its commanding officers were General John P. Hatch and General Walter Phelps Jr.. Noted for its reliability in battle, the brigade developed a reputation which remained after it was disbanded late in the war, due to its annihilation from extremely high casualties.

Our History

North and South
Quote from: Museal
The Dixieland Army Union Brigade was first thought up back in March 2014 to address the longterm issue of a lack of Brigade/Army structure or support for the communities North American Union Regiments. We had noticed a severe lack of active Union Regiments for Brigade Linebattles and wanted to see what we could do to help it come about, not just because we think we can help out, but also due to the need for our own North American Confederate Regiments organized into Braggs Brigade to have a decent opponent on NA servers for NA events. We looked across the community and spent six months collecting data about the NA Union and shared our results with the Union Army, who sadly was unable to help longterm with the NA community but who graciously allowed us to form this Union Brigade. We then spent a month getting things ready and talking to other regiments in the community, all of which leads us to today.

Battlecry of Freedom
The remainder of the North American regiments within the Union Brigades decided in 2018 to move on to Battlecry of Freedom if the North and South mod was ever to die out. So we started making plans to move the Union Brigades over to Battlecry of Freedom with granted permission of Major General Museal in case the module took it's last breath. The plan was to keep playing North and South while also attempting to grow the Union Brigades for Battlecry of Freedom so we could one day carry on hosting events on there. We mainly made this decision to preserve the name, reputation and memories of the Union Brigades while also wanting to move on to a more popular, yet recognizable game. The last thing we'd like to see is the Union Brigades dying together with North and South, that is why we took these particular steps.

Last Notes

Our community rules, standards and guidelines will stay the same as the ones we currently have within the Dixieland Army.
This is an updated topic from the original one that was created for North and South by Museal, The Union Brigades.

Thank you Museal and the remaining staff of the Dixieland Army for giving us the most amazing community a mod like North and South could have. Together we have created such great and unreplaceable memories. We owe you a lot, our gratitude and respect for you and the other remaining members is immeasurable. All the years you have put into this community will not go to waste, that is a promise that we will be sure to keep. In a way, this is the end of an era, even though North and South is still alive and you haven't resigned yet, it does feel that way.
