*Sigh*
Canada was first settled by the french who built a trading outpost in 1600, but after a winter 5 of the original 16 settlers were shipped back to France.
And
UNLESS you count the Roanoke colony as the first colony which was settled in the late 1500's than it is safe to say Canada was the first colony in the America's since Jamestown was founded in 1607.

Pretty sure Canada was around before the U.S.
Not as a nation, mind you, but a British colony. Which is still all that the U.S is today, right?
Canada was colonized by the French...
Your post is incorrect.
1. Frenchies are not considered to be 'people' and thus colonies are invalid.
2. We infinitely superior Brits came and kicked their arses out anyway.
3. Canada was discovered and first colonized by British explorers.
That means it was a British colony. GG.
Spoiler
I really hope people understand that this, albeit true, is a joke.
1. The French are people who have alot of honour and are to be considered masters of art and beauty.
2. Yes, Napoleon had no intentions to care about the matters in the America's after the events of the Haiti revolution. Thus weakening the current state of the French forces deployed there.
3. Canada was discovered and settled first by Frenchmen.
(That was just to fix things up to those who thought it was real.)
This is all information I got from my American History teacher, if its wrong, please do enlighten me with the truth.
Now let us discuss this no further.
