Regimental History

The regiment has three separate histories. The first time the regiment was raised was in 1756 formed by the redesignation of the 2nd Battalion, 34th Regiment of Foot . It had a short service mainly in Ireland before being disbanded in 1763 when it became a Regiment of Invalids and finally disbanded in 1769.

The second was as the 1st Battalion 73rd (Highland) Regiment of Foot (MacLeod's Highlanders) which was raised in 1777 in Scotland. The 1st Duke of Wellington, Arthur Wellesley was gazetted an ensign for a short time in this battalion. A second battalion was raised in 1778. The regiment served in Gambia in West Africa in 1779 and in the Second Anglo-Mysore War from 1780 where they served alongside the 2nd/42nd Highlanders who would become the future 73rd Foot. In 1786 the MacLeod's Highlanders became the 71st (Highland) Regiment of Foot (MacLeod's Highlanders) which would eventually become the Highland Light Infantry.

In 1809 the 2nd/73rd Foot was raised in Nottingham from local militia companies. After seeing minor action throughout Europe for six years, the 2nd/73rd Foot fought in the Battle of Quatre Bras two days before Waterloo. They lost 53 men killed and wounded. At the Battle of Waterloo itself, the regiment was charged by French Cavalry no less than 11 times during the battle and bombarded by French artillery. It remained in square without breaking. The 2nd/73rd lost 6 officers and 225 men killed and wounded, the second heaviest casualties suffered by a line infantry regiment, after the 1st 27th (Inniskillings) which lost 450 out of 700 men in holding their square and Wellington's line. After Waterloo the battalion was part of the Army of Occupation in Paris before moving back to England. When the 2nd Battalion disbanded in 1817, it transferred 300 of its men to the 1st Battalion in Trincomalee.

The 73rd (Perthshire) Regiment of Foot is a regiment that values discipline, but not at the cost of having fun. Although we take our battles and our reputation seriously, we still remember that this is only a game. All that we ask of our members is that they give their best effort, and try to do the 73rd justice in its name. We aim to be respectful, show no tolerance for trolling, and encourage friendship within the community. We are a community that plays a wide variety of games, but first and foremost comes our love of Napoleonic Wars. With four companies that specialize in nearly every aspect of the game (line infantry, light infantry, cavalry, and artillery), the 73rd offers diverse opportunities to succeed and enjoy yourself.

The 63ème Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne has a very long and rich history in the Napoleonic Wars Community. Originally founded by Diplex, and continued by Karth in September of 2012. The 63ème Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne provides a highly structured, but enjoyable and realistic regimental expericance for Napoleonic Wars, along with other Games and Modifications. In the 63ème Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne we expect those wishing to join to join with the expectation of improving at the game, being disiplined, following orders of their superiors, and expressing their ideas and thoughts to the Colonel and Officer Staff if something doesn't feel quite right. We are constantly growing, being one of the few regiments that offer both North American and European events we are home to wide wide range of players from all over the European and American continents. In the end we're a tight night community of players that desire to have fun!

About Us & Recruitment   Founded on the 10th of April 2012, after the release of Mount&Blade: Warband - Napoleonic Wars, as the 42nd Regiment of Foot - the Black Watch from veterans from the Mount&Musket mod of Warband, choosing to represent the most senior and - arguably - most famous Highland Regiment. The Regiment has since gone through the rocks and weathered many storms, nearly crashing and coming to an end once or twice. However through comradeship and combination of "play for fun" and historical immersion the Regiment has come out the better through it's trials. With a sense of historical appreciation and immersion, we can structure our Regiment through the use of historically accurate Ranks and formations. Now, while we realize it is only a game the history and appreciation of the historical 42nd and modern Black Watch is never far away. Upon acceptance of enlistment we provide our recruits with a Field Manual, that explains the basics of the Regiment, our codes of conducts and hand-made drawings of our formations. King's and Regimental Colours of the Black Watch Now the Regiment is a strong, solid unit which boasts good attendance and performances at Events and Linebattles. The 42nd prides itself of a sense of friendship and community, being much more than a Regiment we present ourselves as a gaming community which, infact, play 90% of game-time outside of Warband. While discipline and structure is used during Training, Events and Linebattles we still retain an ethos of banter and relaxation in TeamSpeak and within the community in general. dedicated to professionalism and maturity.
The 15th (Yorkshire, East Riding) Regiment
of Foot was a very large and active
regiment until the loss of interest and
lack of attendance that led up to its
disbandement. But now we are back
and ready to make the 30th twice as
large as the 15th, hence the name 30th.

100th Gordon Highlanders

History

The Regiment was formed under the Childers Reform. The Regiment is kilted and wears the Gordon Tartan. The name of the Regiment was from Clan Gordon. Primarily recruiting in and around Aberdeen in northern Scotland. Raised by the Duke of Gordon in 1794.
