As many of you know, there have been some concerns surrounding some of the matches involving the 6teSLR.
Presented below is what we know, as moderators, and the explanation for any actions that we took as a group.
Some of you may have questions. Please review the explanation spoilers in detail prior to posting them on this thread.
6teSLR vs Nr1 Match Score ChangedA suspicious (not illegal) addition of a player from the 91st roster to the 6teSLR's roster caused confusion and doubts about the integrity of the match between the 6teSLR and the Nr1 in Week 5.
Moderator Action: The score of the 6teSLR vs Nr1 match, which was a 9-1 win for the 6teSLR, has been changed to a 5-5 tie. Explanation
A player that was originally registered in NANWL with the 91st left the regiment on Feb 16th with the reason that he was leaving NW. The 91st did not immediately remove him from their roster in the case that the member returned. Unbeknownst to the 91st, the player changed his name and joined the 6teSLR on Feb 18th. Irish submitted a list of names to be added to their roster, among them was this player with the new name. The player is moving from one NANWL reg to another, so a 2-match ban must be issued. This did not happen as the mod making the changes could not know who the player really was.
The 6teSLR knew the true identity, but did not inquire as to why their member did not have match ban indicators on his roster entry. Irish claims that the player did sit out the two required matches, but that is not official procedure. Regiments cannot determine their own match ban policies in a tournament. There is no evidence to suggest that that the player was present for the matches he had to sit out, but the mods cannot confirm that. As a penalty for not going through the official channel for match bans, the score of the 6teSLR vs Nr1 match has been retroactively changed from a 9-1 win for the 6teSLR to a 5-5 tie. The offence was not serious enough to warrant awarding all rounds played to the Nr1. Irish accepted this as a fair compromise when asked about it by RussianFury and myself (with the support of the other mods).
6teSLR Allegedly Using Illegal PlayersThe failure of Steam to notify moderators of pending offline messages and other factors prevented two 6teSLR players being added to their roster on time. They both played in matches. In both cases, moderators have validated the requests to add those players to the roster
prior to those matches happening.
Moderator Action: None. The 6teSLR did not commit illegal players to affected matches. Explanation
Two players played in matches for the 6teSLR while not actually being present on their roster at the time of the matches. In both cases, the players were, in actual fact, cleared to play in the matches by at least one moderator. This is not an unprecedented action; it was done a couple times in Seasons 6 & 7. The players not being placed on the roster in time for the matches is the result of various factors.
In both instances, the players were requested to be added to the 6te's roster by Irish. They were sent as a Steam offline messages to a moderator. Steam's notification system is rarely functional and the messages were not received by the moderator. A screenshot of Irish's chat history with the moderator through the Steam mobile app proves that he made the request. Fault is applied to both the 6te leadership AND the moderators/referees in this instance:
1. The 6te leadership did not followup to make sure the player was properly added to the NANWL roster sheet and
2. The moderators/referees did not notice this soon enough.
The fact of the matter is that the players were to be added well before the matches they played and if the moderator did get the messages as intended, then the players would have been able to play as normal. Therefore, the 6teSLR is found to have committed no wrongdoing in their Week 4 match or the final match of League 1.
6teSLR Allegedly Sabotaging the 91stOne final matter relating to the final match must be explained. The final League 1 match was disturbed by a group of individuals through the use of bushpirating and attempts to strip the 6teSLR of their win using fake evidence of foul play. We cannot confirm the identities of all of the people involved, but the main perpatrator incriminated himself openly.
Moderator Action: Oatmeal, of the Nr4, is permanently banned from participating in any future events run by the North American Napoleonic Wars League. Explanation
About one hour after the final League 1 match concluded, Oatmeal produced a fake image of a Steam conversation between himself and Irish; he sent it to Risk to stir up doubts that the 6teSLR played fairly. The content of the conversation alleged that Irish provided Oatmeal with EU4 DLC in exchange for him to bushpirate the 91st and teamkill AsianP purposely. Overall, there were numerous gaps in Oatmeal's story. When confronted about this on TeamSpeak, Oatmeal could not keep his story straight and admitted to falsifying evidence under the guise of "April Fools". He didn't manage to fool anyone.
As a result of interfering in the operation of the League and wasting moderator time, Oatmeal is hereby permanently banned from participating in any future events run by the North American Napoleonic Wars League.
The 6teSLR remains the victors of League 1.
