Welcome to the 1st Royal Horse Guards (1stRHG) forum thread!

Abit of history about my regiment and its background.
 The Royal Horse Guards were founded in 1650 by Sir Arthur Haselrig under the command of Oliver Cromwell in Newcastle upon Tyne. The regiment was a cuirassiers force and became the Earl of Oxford's Regiment during the reign of King Charles II. The regiment was called "the Oxford Blues" for their blue uniforms, which derived then to the "blues". It became the Royal Horse Guards Blue in 1750 and eventually the Royal Horse Guards (The Blues).

The regiment fought in the French Revolutionary Wars, Peninsular War and was distinguished during the Battle of Waterloo. In 1918 the regiment served the 3rd Battalion as the Guards Machine Gun regiment, during the second world war the regiment was part of the Household Cavalry Composite Regiment.

We are one month old and have a total of 30 members.

Good luck, though I believe the regiment you refer to is actually the Royal Horse Guards 'the Blues' the first regiment of the Household cavalry. The 1st and 2nd were each known as the life guards.
