>"There's never been a "true" communist/socialist society!"
Chiapas, Catelonia, Ukraine, the communal garden in my neighborhood.
>"USSR wasnt actually communist!"
In some ways it was, but in others it wasn't. It was an authoritarian dictatorship - that's for sure.
>"We can make radical socialism/communism work if we try hard and believe in ourselves!"
Uh yeah? Isn't that true of pretty much anything?
>"Despite all the past failures I'm sure we'll get it right this time!"
It's both succeeded and failed in the past. This doesn't really stand up to any serious historical analysis.
>"have you considered its possible to alter our system/style of capitalism?"
Sure, it's possible, but it doesn't really address the underlying problems that capitalism creates and enforces. Capitalism is an inherently unequal and contradictory system. Altering it can lessen its evil, but not destroy it. There will always be people directly suffering due to capitalism as long as it exists.
>"What? No! Fuck Capitalism its either L'aissez-Faire crush the poor or nothing! There's no way it could ever work in any form no matter what!"
I guess if you want to see it that way, sure. I think you're misreading the arguments though.
