Imo it would be nice to see (more) variety in the mod. I agree with Hinkel that it would get rather stale if both sides were the same. If not faction-wise then at least variety in melee/shooting in different rifles, as there is now, would be nice to see continued.

Also, I am wondering about what will be done with the sharpshooter rifles. In some earlier pictures both the confederate and union sharpshooters had breech loading rifles. Firstly, I understand that people are opposed to the reloading on the move ability and that it can be unbalanced. But will they, being breech loaders, offer a more mobile role to the sharpshooters or will you give them a sniper-like role with high accuracy but slower reload. Historically the sharps rifle (breech loader) where faster to reload than infantry rifles and the sharpshooters could keep up a higher volume of fire. This source states that the sharps rifle could be fired 8-10 times a minute (7-6 second reload) and another source, an account of the Berdan Sharpshooters at Gettysburg saying something along these lines: "On a good day a sharpshooter could shoot up to 10 shots a minute" (can try to find the source later), which also falls into the 8-10 range. They were also rather accurate, but I understand that they can't be both accurate and have a quick reload in the mod for balance reasons.

Tbh I wouldn't mind having a sharpshooter rifle with no/very slight accuracy bonus but with a fast reload, which would let us be a mobile skirmishing force instead of relatively immobile snipers. Basically give the sharps carbine to the sharpshooters. Another idea would be to have 2 rifles for the sharpshooters like the infantry have, one which allows us to be mobile, and another more sniper-like one. The same Wikipedia source above claims that the Berdan Sharpshooters also used whitworth rifles which is already used in the mod by the sharpshooters.

The sharpshooters were a hot debate before and there was a hasty solution to it with the 0.5 patch. I hope that in 1.0 there can be a good and well thought out solution to them, as I don't like our current position with the weird long rifles.

/end rant

Merry christmas and good luck with the patch! I hope it will bring lots of pew pew with it.  :)

Yes but you dont mind because you arent in a infantry regiment..... My regiment and many other infantry regiments are glad the breechloader is out and i hope we keep it like that.

No merry Christmas cuz we Dutch dont do that :P

My idea was:

Sniper rifles might be the most accurate weapons, but they have less ammo and they reload 2-3 times longer then a musket. So the Springfield rifle could fire 3 times, while the Sharps Rifle could just shoot 1 time.
But they are more accurate and can change their positions while reloading.

I know this isn't really historically accurate, but, I think you should remove the reload on the move feature.

I think that a slow reload with a accurate rifle with no reload on the move gives the skirmishers a decent role as with the fact that all infantry receive rifles and can as a result act as a skerm it makes sense to give them a role of a long range "sniper" which infantry can not fill normally

There is already a sharpshooter :).

Made a small test, so you get a view on a 3D model, not just a screenshot.

Just click on the picture.

One good think i spotted on this model Mr.Hinkel, the leg/trouser is not skinny like before

Reloading on the move is why we almost banned Sharpshooters completely from all Linebattles, its only because MajGen Wolf instead told us that the UA Sharps had instead suggested that a simple No Reload on the Move rule would suffice that we let them carry on. However problems naturally arose due to rulebreaking.

Most simple way:

Sharpshooters 1st Choice Weapon - Very Good Accuracy, can not reload on the move and takes slightly longer than a musket to reload (2-3 times longer).
2nd Choice Weapon - Good Accuracy, can not reload on the move, takes just a tad longer than a normal musket to reload (1.5 times longer).

Between the two fine pieces of weaponry, the Springfield M1842, and the Harpers Ferry M55, I believe it was... Why exactely are the confederates not implemented with a Enfield Pattern 1853?

Cause nobody in the confederate army used an Enfield Rifle at Manassas.
There was one regiment, which was equiped with the Enfield.. the 14th Brooklyn :)

The confederates started to use the Enfield in 1862, about 8 months after Manassas.

If this is possible for regiments for the Confederates, you know like the swords are mixed between two for some classes? I was thinking you could do the same with a Springfield 42, and a Springfield 55 for the Confeds, because the Confederates did capture 55's from the Union dead.

Well basicly, the Harpers Ferry Rifle 55 and Springfield Rifle 55 are basicly the same rifles. The production place was the only difference. But at Manassas, nearly no confederate regiment had the new 1855 model rifles. So you have to capture them of the battlefield, not within your equipment at spawn :)
