Hoping to see lots more balancing of the two armies with no silly units or weapons *cough* repeaters and sharps rifle *cough*

Though maybe a fixed Gatling gun on a special map would be cool. After all, plenty of rumours saying Hinkel has been playing with Gatling guns for a while :P

Your comment is really paradox ;)

On the one hand, you dont want "silly" weapons like sharp rifles and carbines, but on the other hand you want the most silly weapon... A gatling gun?!

The mod is about the early war in 1861,  so there wont be 1865 weapons.
Sharp rifles will come back, together with other "silly", but historical units.

The factions won't be balanced, each faction will have unique strenghts and weaknesses.

Adding them back in won't change anything. We'll just ban them from our events again. Since they've been removed events have been fun and interesting. Not just being bashed down by someone running away whilst reloading. I personally don't see the point of adding them back in.

So.. adding back snipers, with good accuracy but very bad reloading... + not moving while reloading would be okay?

Meh I've always preached to remove both of them :)

So you want just one basic muskete.. no other weapon in the mod?

Maybe I can just remove all units and just add a basic infantry, with all same stats. Would be better that way?

I don't see, why some different units, with strenghts and weaknesses compared to other units, is welcomed.

I say different units with varying stats are welcome, but some things are just to over powered and cannot be balanced for event gameplay.

Now, everyone here hold up a bit. Let's go for realism, shall we?
FIRST OFF.
Some confederates had the repeating rifles.
All right, got that off my chest. now, the accuracy of the rifles should be reduced, severely. First off, they were only usable up to 200 yards well due to accuracy and ammunition power.  The gun's in NS are insanely less accurate than their real-life counterparts, and seeing as I actively shoot weapons from that period, they run nowhere near. Compensate for that with the Repeater. Make it about as accurate as an 1855 Springfield, or a Lorenz. A feature which I beleive should be added in for the repeater would be bad greasing- The reason they never got pouplar, and this can happen with Revolvers aswell, when fired sparks would fly out and could get into the other chambers, occasionally making them explode in the persons hand. Adding this as a very small chance (no higher than 4-5%) would add a certain "Shit, do I want to use this?" element to the game.

Aswell, the repeater should, at a minimum, have a accuracy reduction. An alternative to balance it would be, realistically, remove the Long Rifle (A flintlock as most accurate? Really?) and make the Whitworth rifle the most accurate. It logistically should have an accuracy of 100, it is the only counterpart to the Repeater. This would allow a good balanceing and a new tactic layout (Sniper teams, anyone?) and increase the historical accuracy of the game, considering how the Whitworth rifle was much more accurate than anything at that time.

Just making them not able to reload on the move or pick up a Sharps Carbine would be good.

Lucas, the problem with doing that is it kills the idea. The idea of a repeating rifle was the power and abilities of the Revolver, with the power and range of a Rifle. All it is is a larger version of the Revolver, morealess literally. Just make it less accurate, and the whitworth rifle the TRUE sniper. Otherwise (allthough I don't beleive it was an 1861 weapon) the Confederate states had a sniper rifle, it was quite an ugly thing but absolutely pinpoint when used right.

The scope script (for the zoom) could possibly be permitted to be used from the Iron Europe team.

Tally-ho!

Big thanks to the 26th North Carolina Regiment, the only regiment which had time to test in the Line Battle. Great guys! :)

BTW Hinkel if you ever want to set up another photo session without the trolls on the right we are always here to help. That is as long as I get more cavalry units.
