As I sit in my quarters to pen this letter, my heart is conflicted, with elation from the experiences I know you are soon bound to face, but ultimately overwhelmed with the dark cloud of sorrow that hangs over the soldier's spirit of many who call you major, compatriot, father, and friend. But consolation comes from the knowledge that your spirit is forever ingrained in the fiber that holds the 89th Royal Guard in such high and lofty esteem by allies and enemies alike.
