Another reason why it looks different, we recently found material showing our original bicornes are incorrect. You know the Dutch MP Bicornes? Imagine a slightly smaller version of that one and you have the bicornes that the Batavian marines used. So you could say, the one I ordered is going to be more correct than the ones we use right now.

Yeah, the main problem with our impression (both the 1797 and 1810 version) is that there's very little material of what our uniforms looked like.

Bought a gambeson for £45 today.

Someone in the group made it but it was too tight for them and they got a decent one somewhere else, so bargain price to cover material costs.

It looks pretty worn already, basically because when you wear maille over anything, prepare to get stains from the oil.
It's far better than having a weirdly clean, fresh linen gamby anyway.
