Meade was really underappreciated. He was a solid man who never broke a sweat under pressure, although his temper was out of control when people messed up. Meade was never hung up on glory or attention, rarely talked to the press so he was overshadowed by Grant.

I kinda like Stuart, with his dashing cavalry look and behavior.   ;)
He screwed over the confederates at Gettsyburg though. Other then that mainly he was a very good general.

He did, though he tried to surround the Federal army later in the battle, which failed.

My most hated general would probably be Sherman. Racist plunderer.

after all, meade's fishhook strategy won gettysburg for the union which was the deciding battle for the rest of the war!

Buford an unsung hero. Chose he ground at Gettysburg. Died before the wars end.
Of course, I also think lines should be able to move in double rank without having emotional breakdowns.

That was Hancock actually  ;). When the Union army broke after General Reynolds death, he reformed the army around the heights outside of Gettysburg. Meade arrived later that night, agreed with a defensive strategy because he knew the rebels had to attack being the invading army.

It's a tie between Lee and Jackson for me although honorable mention to Brigadier General Johnathan Hunt Morgan for leading the longest raid of the civil war. He led about 2000 Confederate cavalrymen across over 1000 miles of ground through Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio and earned the nickname "Thunderbolt of the Confederacy" he escaped Union prison twice I believe, and was killed when Union soldiers ambushed him in his sleep and killed him on sight, not wanting to take him prisoner to avoid being embarrassed by him escaping again to wreak havoc on the Union.

Damn fine general that really isn't appreciated. Was shot 7 times at Antietam, still commanded his regiment.

I hold Lee and Jackson in my heart for obvious reasons.

I really admire Nathan Bedford Forrest's military actions.

Quote
"A month later, Forrest was back in action at the Battle of Shiloh (April 6 to April 7, 1862). He commanded a Confederate rear guard after the Union victory. In the battle of Fallen Timbers, he drove through the Union skirmish line. Not realizing that the rest of his men had halted their charge when reaching the full Union brigade, Forrest charged the brigade single-handedly, and soon found himself surrounded. He emptied his Colt Army revolvers into the swirling mass of Union soldiers and pulled out his saber, hacking and slashing. A Union infantryman fired a musket ball into Forrest's spine with a point-blank musket shot, nearly knocking him out of the saddle. Forrest grabbed an unsuspecting Union soldier, hauled him onto his horse to use as a shield, dumped the man once he had broken clear and was out of range, then galloped back to his incredulous troopers. A surgeon removed the musket ball a week later, without anesthesia, which was unavailable. Forrest would have been likely given a generous dose of alcohol to muffle the pain of the surgery."
Humans are extremely complicated creatures. Death uncomplicates them to a frightening degree...
