Unbeknownst to the rest of the community, I actually approached Evan on the first night of voting and suggested we resign from the poll together in protest after witnessing the politically-driven flamefest it had turned into. He declined. Now, however, it seems he's gone ahead unannounced and left me in a very uncomfortable predicament.

I've worked hard not only on my ability to play the game but on my place in the community. I never ruffle feathers or create an issue where there need not be one, and I hope that I'm seen by many as a respectable member of it. Right from the outset this poll has, frankly, been an embarassment to be a part of as it soon became obvious that the majority of voting was not done on merit. For that reason, I announce my desire to be removed from the poll and hopefully move on from this stain on the community. It is a shame that Evan and I couldn't have left together with heads held high at the earliest opportunity, but, alas. Thank you to those that voted honestly and genuinely, whomever for, and I apologise for the extremely negative tones in my (first) post; I'm just very disillusioned with the way in which a supposed fun forum game has been handled.

Considering he has 27.2% of the 353 votes cast between the 43 (previously 44) candidates thus far, it doesn't seem like he would otherwise be worried about losing. He is leaving because he feels that this "contest" is taking a turn into who has the most friends and away from the core thing which this contest was founded on: fantastic melee prowess. Meaning, the votes that have been cast are more through pure loyalty, peer pressure, or the phenomenon we call the "bandwagon," not, as he said, "on merit."

This is why Evan and Harrier decided to leave the polls. They felt any credit they received from this contest would not recognize their skills in any way, and take away from the merit of all the other candidates. They deserve to have their heads held high, because they are making what seems to be a great sacrifice to many in this community. More than that, and perhaps closer to the truth, they deserve to have their heads held high because they are throwing away false success in a cracked and disillusioned "politically-driven flamefest."

Ive taken harrier off the list now.

From the on set of this contest back on tale worlds when only nominations were being taken it was completely obvious that peoples personal opinions and regiment bias were going to affect this contest (and they did).

The Idea of the tournament is voting for the person that is the best, which means different things to different people but its about being the best player, plain and simple, that was the purpose, but in this community its not possible in a scenario like this unfortunately. BUT whether not votes were being given by bias or by acknowledgement of skill is not related to the fun of the game, the game could of been fun even if someone who sucked won champion, the problem is peoples astounding ability to be butt hurt about something that is meaningless or even if they are not directly related to it, that is what ruined this forum game.

Now with that being said, its nearly over, 2 polls to go and its done lets just get through this without someone crying on this thread and do not forget, its a FORUM GAME that does not impact your life in anyway and is practically meaningless, if you feel the need to get emotional over it in anyway then I honestly pity you.

I would also like the discussion to end on what I have said, anyone who posts will be instantly reported by myself to attempt to remove the comment from the thread, it will just start more drama and I myself have had enough from this thread.

Anyone who thought that the outcome of these polls would not have been decided on peoples friendslists was rather naive to be honest. As such I am surprised at how serious it has turned, since if one accepts the fact that the correlation between skill and votes recieved is inexistant the outcome of the poll is instantly irrelevant, meaning that it's a fun thing to do on the forum that allows people to feel warm and fuzzy about the nice hings said about them, such as the how famous is the above poster thread.

Technicly i quit months ago, so i win.
