Go to the event and stay in a medical tent the whole time! Mwuhahaha! You can be the immersive "I'm dying of disease" casualty. :D

Nah, I kid. Get well soon!

You don't really need a lot of money, you just need to be willing to spent it. It's expensive, yes, but it's nevertheless payable. A few hundred euros would cover you for a long time, and many regiments have clothing you can borrow.
Being shy is not a problem, so was (and still am) I.

If you could do re-enactment, what regiment/period/nation would you like to join?

So far im interested in:
2de Grenadiers
5de bataljon militie
3e grenadiers

But i think i will join the 3e with you because they interest me the most, but I really really have to think about it.
Its a little maybe ;)

The 5de seems to be a little inactive (though they are undoublty still around, I've seen a few of them at battles), so yeah, 2e Bataljon van linie (Grenadier compagnie) or 3eme Grenadiers.

Personally I'm looking into the 6de Huzaren van Boreel. It's expensive, but I just sollicated for a job that might make it possible.

No. Bathmen is close to Deventer, and we have an event in Bourtange, Groningen, every two year.

Ah ok, thanks :)
From all those Almelo is the nearest, but I guess I have to deal with that, since Americans have to drive hours and hours :P

Other than the odd ACW reenactment (I live in Fredericksburg, VA so I'm in the thick of it all), I typically have to drive 4-6 hours to an event. xD The further ones like in South Carolina or Pennsylvania it's more around 8 hours.
