If you were to join the military what branch would you join and what job?

Haha, everyone wants to be an officer. Where are the regulars I ask.

Because anyone can be an enlisted man, and it's not as fun to imagine.


I'd have to go with either the Navy, as an officer (Hopefully ending up with a command of my own, preferably a destroyer or cruiser), or perhaps an.. infantry officer. I'm not entirely particular about which branch the latter would be. Anything but the bloody Marine Corps.

Have you ever met a US Marine? They're not all bad.. but some of them are the most annoyingly gung ho people about their branch, to the point of trying to tell everyone about how much better the USMC is than everyone else.

I mean, I understand pride in your service, but good lord they're over the top about it.

If i would join the military i would go with armored. If i could become an officer why not? However i would most likely end up as a sergeant.

Well, i have 3 years studying in the academy left, after academy i'll be an officer in Mechanized forces, not sure if APC or tanks.

I can attest to this from years of personal experience. They're a mixed lot though, a lot are like that, but then others are just fine.

Anyways...

As for me, were I to join the (US) military I would (as an officer, most likely) probably join the Army and go with either A) the US Army Veterinary Corps or B) as a tank commander. It really depends on why I'm joining the army. If it's more so that I can have some sort of "stable" job, pay, housing, ect. then I would probably be a Vet, or something more along the non-combat line. If however, I'm joining the Army because America is at war and I either A) Believe the war to be highly justified, or B) Would prefer volunteering over running the risk of being drafted, then I would most likely be a tanker. Other possibilities include but are not limited to; pilot, infantry, and paratrooper. Possibly Special Forces, but eh, I doubt it.

Well if  i actually screwed up my life so bad that the only choice left for me is to join the military or have no job then i have 3 choices:

Could join the Swedish army, although as you can figure out this leads nowhere, you will never be deployed in combat, not neccesarily a bad thing but it's kind of the point of being in an army.

Could join the US Armed forces since i'm a citizen, at which point i would be glad to become a helicopter pilot as that would leave me with the ability to get jobs after my service time, as a leisure helicopter pilot or teacher.

Or last but not least, join the FFL, since i'm fluent in French and lived there for a few years. But honestly doubt i'd make their bootcamp, if i did though that wouldn't be too bad, definetly better than the serving in Sweden...

I did one of them career tests today and the generator said that I would be a good air traffic controller. I guess I would do that, maybe helicopter flying or a regimental wizard

If any you Americans have questions about AF ROTC feel free to send me a message, im in my 2nd year, not bad, only about 5 hours of classes/pt/labs every week, and then next year I go into field training for like many weeks.  So even if you join the Air Force, they teach you about combat on the ground as well ;p
