They fought from 1625-1630 in the 30 Years War, and the civil war started in 1642. Unless you're referring to something different.

But still I would agree that England isn't the best choice as a major faction.

Do you have any source for that? Because everything I read never mentioned England sending troops into the war. England played a certain role in this time, but not in a major role and not in the 30 years war.
However imo it´s a good choice to take them in, even due to the fact, that you could probably reenact a battle from the ECW or another war England fought in those days. You may not forget that this is not only about the 30-years war...

I was responding to Willhelm's post where he said that England was locked in civil war at the time. I agree that they played a very small role in the war - I was just saying that they technically were involved from 1625-30 and that the civil war that I believe he was referring to didn't start til 1642. I didn't say anything about troop commitment, and I would not include England in mod at all, aside from mercenaries that were involved in fighting but weren't under the command of England.
