"The Old Guard"

The Old Guard was the elite of the elite, the creme de la creme of Napoleon's infantry. You cannot exaggerate about them. They were convinced to the point of arrogance, that they are the most ferocious fighters on earth- and the amusing thing about it is that they were. If the men of the Old Guard had the chance to fight the enemy today in a pub, they would take them to the cleaners then drive them back in a school bus sobbing like the muppets. The Emperor was proud of their reputation, appearance, and always gave them a prominent place in his great exhibitions at Paris. They occupied the barracks of the Cent-Suisse, nearest the Emperor. Over the door was carved: "The Home of the Brave". One of the commanders of the Old Guard was General Gros. Napoleon had a very particular regard for him. “Gros, he said, lives in gunpowder like fish in water: it is his element.... He is a finished trooper.” Gros was masculine, very brave but poorly educated, the way in which he expressed himself belonged only to him. With their wounds, tattoos, and golden earrings, the fearsome legionnaires inspired awe. Napoleon selected his guardsmen carefully and the requirements were not easy to meet for the candidates. In 1806 only one man from each infantry battalion was admitted to the Old Guard.

We try to keep up the standards of the Old Guard, therefore each member must be trained hard! Discipline is vital! If you do not obey, you're out! Fooling around on training, or trolling will be punished hard! That does not mean we are a bunch of hardcore gamers, we are very friendly, and consist of a nice group of people and a healthy community.

A brief history of our regiment:

The 1er Grenadiers were formed as a Mount&Musket regiment on 31 October 2010 by Willard who soon after gave Herlev overall command as Colonel, we started out small but eventually grew into a formidable regiment ranking among the top with a reputation for fearful melee skills and cursed marksmanship. We had frequent 1vs1 linebattles and a good record with 40+ won matches and about 6 lost, as well as hosting several of our own historical events and bigger linebattles. We also maintained a healthy rivalry with the British 51st.
Eventually we joined the Imperial French Army who collected many of the best regiments into one organization with the aim to fight other such armies, which we remained a member of for over a year, until we left and then became a member of the Imperial Guard, although we didn't participate as much in that army.
In the summer of 2012 a while after the release of Napoleonic Wars our Colonel Herlev announced his resignation and Maktheridon stepped up as Colonel until in the beginning of 2013 he also stepped down and our current Colonel Sergi took command.
Throughout all of this, members have joined and left and many great friendships were forged in the heart of battle many still lasting to this day.

§1.7: If you leave the regiment notify us through the absence thread.

Chapter 2
§2.1: Follow orders! Do not question your superiors!
§2.2: Respect your superiors! Know your place and never strike an NCO or CO.
§2.3: Do your duty according to your rank. Do not take on the duties of higher ranks than yours.
§2.4: Be serious and act serious in trainings/events. Do not fool around.
§2.5: Do not abuse your rank & power in any way!

§2.7: No teamkilling during events ever, even if it's not live or the event is over! If a TK takes place and I am at the event as well, I will look into it and find out the reason. Mistakes are not any good excuses. If you were given an order to fire at an enemy line but friendlies are in the area, you will not be charged since you executed your orders.

Chapter 3
§3.1: Respect the members of enemy armies. This is to avoid 2 peoples conflict growing into a huge problem which can affect the regiment.
§3.2: Any actions which puts the regiment at risk of any kind. Remember, wherever you wear our tags that you represent the regiment with your actions.
§3.3: Do not inform the enemy sides regarding confidential information within the regiment.
§3.5: Have a big old, grey, filthy, disgusting moustache.
§3.4: The 1er Grenadiers will be your only mistress, when you are in the 1er you are not allowed to be in or join any other regiments.
§3.6: Never surrender.

Breaking any of these rules can result in your immediate removal from the regiment.

The uniforms of the regular line infantry are some times camouflaged in order to protect their wearers by hiding them from sight.
The principle is that what the enemy cannot see he cannot kill. This is not the way of the Imperial Guard. A Guardsmans uniform is bright with heraldry that proclaims his devotion to his Regiment and the beloved Emperor. Our principle is that what the enemy can see, he will soon learn to fear…

In short, we only expect a few things of you when you apply.
  • Be able to attend our trainings.
  • Be mature, and disciplined. Focus when needed.
  • A form of common sense is required.
  • Be willing to learn. Dont think you are better than anyone else.
  • Never, ever surrender! Important rule!
  • Have a big old, grey, filthy, disgusting moustache.

If you feel competent with these requirements, please take the time to post an application on our forum.
