Other Games / Football Manager Series
« on: August 03, 2018, 11:57:07 pm »

Football Manager is a series of football management simulation video games developed by Sports Interactive and published by Sega. The game began its life in 1992 as Championship Manager. However, following the break-up of their partnership with original publishers Eidos Interactive, Sports Interactive lost the naming rights and re-branded the game Football Manager with their new publishers Sega. The latest version of Football Manager was released on 10 November 2017.

The game involves taking control of a football club anywhere in the world, where you will finalise signings, craft tactics and lead your side to glory.

I noticed a number of people in the community play the game series and, since I'm not sure the football thread is the best place for discussions on it, I thought I'd make a dedicated thread. Feel free to post tactics, achievements, insane regens and anything relating to Football Manager that floats your boat.

Historical Discussion / Diary of a German Soldier During Stalingrad
« on: October 28, 2016, 05:01:11 pm »
I found this post in the history subreddit on, you guessed it, reddit. It includes the source in the post and a link to an imgur post with the translated diary in. He goes by the name of William Hoffman and I feel that his writing really captures the initial enthusiasm of the German forces on their approach to Stalingrad and the Volga and then the doomed attitude undertaken by the men as their situation becomes increasingly dire.

The Mess Hall / My Meme Adventures
« on: April 09, 2016, 10:36:45 pm »
In a bid to spread memes to all corners of the world I set out on an adventure and challenged myself to battle the harshest weathers, the strongest currents and to traverse the most barren and desolate climates to bring the people the memes that they have asked for. In order to do this I must first find out what people think about memes.

The first step on my dank daytrip was a visit to the 15th_YR teamspeak under the simple alias of "memes" where I spoke to an enthusiastic Gi.
After explaining why I was there I began to question Gi on his meme experience.

1)Have you heard of "dank memes" before?
2)Could you give an example?
3)On a scale of 1-10 how dank are your memes?

After my interesting findings from the 15th teamspeak I took the virtual route across the atlantic to talk to Windflower on the 3eVolt teamspeak. (I don't have exact word for word answers due to communicating through voice)

1)Are your memes dank?
Yes I would consider myself to be a memeologist
2)Why is NA CSGO so bad?
I don't know. Who even plays csgo anyway.
3)What is your favourite TV show and why is it spongebob?
(cue Windflower playing a dank spongebob meme)

After a great chat with Windflower I continue my search across the NW teamspeak community to learn more about the nature of memes in our game.

More to come folks. Stay tuned.

93e ts interview with ragnar under the alias MemeGenerator.exe

1)on a scale of 1-10 how dank are your memes?

2)why is 18e the worst regiment in NW?
Thats a good question. I would say John Price.

3)Are you related to ethan Bradburry?

4)If I had two memes and then killed one, how many memes would I have left? (trick question because memes never die)
Not enough

5)on a scale of slightly to fuck yes how salty was kaide when they lost to 18e?
John Cena

6)Who would win in a fight between the FSE team and the Taliban?
If it was the full FSE meme team then they would but if not then the taliban would meme the fuck out of Vince

Other Games / Steam Restricting My Market Use :(
« on: April 29, 2015, 07:13:16 pm »
Decided to buy some retro Games. Went and added £10 onto my steam wallet to buy Unreal Tournament 2004.

I then went to sell my Chroma Case drops from CS:GO on the market when I saw that steam had stopped me from using the market for a number of days due to having a new card or one that hasn't been used in a while.

What is weird is that I bought World at War about a week ago with the same card.
Anyone shed some light on this for me? Is it just steam being weird?

General Discussion / Napoleonic Wars as an esports
« on: April 13, 2015, 12:23:01 am »
Hi all,

We have recently seen a lot of tournaments popping up around the place such as Napoleonic Wars League and Napoleonic Linebattle Cup. Most of these tournaments have been quite successful and have attracted the best regiments from around the globe to compete. My question to you is do you ever see Napoleonic wars or a game like it (BCoF or Vanilla mount and blade warband/bannerlord for example) and what do you think would be the next step for the game in terms of growing it's esports tournaments. Would it be growing accomadation for spectators or bigger prize pools? I've heard certain leagues talk about Twitch streaming. We have already seen many great regiments of the game (14e, 92nd, 91st for example) and I just thought it would be a nice idea to talk about. Let me know what you guys think :)

Off Topic / Humble Bundle
« on: September 22, 2014, 06:22:36 pm »
Well I'm pretty sure a lot of you will have heard of the humble bundle but if you haven't then this is what it is. Basically a collection of games which is put together by a company every week or month (don't really know which :P) which you donate to get. A large sum of the money goes to the developers of the game and more importantly charity so do your bit and help out. Some great offers this week!

Just thought I'd spread the word :)

Off Topic / PC Parts
« on: August 22, 2014, 05:51:13 pm »
So I've been stuck with my potato for a while now and I really want a better PC to run the top games. I want to run all the high end games as well as possible.
I'm not made of money and the other day I came across this video made my jackfrags (the guy who plays with FrankieOnPcIn1080p a lot)

It's a video of him buying the cheapest parts he can find for a good gaming PC and putting them all together.
The total cost for the PC was approximately £433.51 including VAT and delivery. Later on in the video he plays BF4, CS:GO and Crysis 3 to demonstrate the PC and they all achieved a consistent rate of 60fps. And I was like "Dayum, thats pretty good"
These are the links to all the parts:

I just thought I'd ask what you guys think?
