Switzerland-Serbia turned out to be quite a bad game, unfortunately. It was ruined by biased refereeing and the Serbs also ended up playing really poor on the 2nd half, which I guess could be fully blamed on their frustration over the referee. Shame to see the Swiss get a win though, was certainly not deserved in my opinion. Seriously though, who appoints a German referee to a Swiss game?!

I don't get why you would find the WC less interesting if Germany and Brazil don't make it past the group stage.
At the latter stages i want to see the best players playing the best kind of football, and not parking the bus. I would not want to watch Iceland play football even though i respect they way they do it as i don't support them i couldn't give a shit, i just want a world cup with full of entertainment.

It would be quite dull for both of them to go out, I mean i'd rather have a semi final of Brazil-Spain/Germany-France, because i will 100% get a high quality match of players that actually know what they are doing, rather than the manager just telling them to defend and win set pieces, Spain and Portougal 3-3 is a good example, best match yet. And 80% of those games will happen after the groupstages, because the quality will be higher.

EDIT: Responding to your edit - Yes Iceland went through to get battered 4-1 against France, such a exicting tie. It was a good fairytale though.
because for them to be beaten it will require skill, and not just pure luck. If the other teams manage to beat out Germany and Brazil from the group stage, it does mean that the quality of those teams is significantly better than the quality of Germany and Brazil. I don't think that the manager of the other teams would tell them to just defend and win set pieces if they would make it through further. I think we will be served good football in any case.
Surely you don't believe that yourself, are you telling me the quality of Mexico is better than Germany?

Example of 2014 where Spain crashed out of the groupstage, are you telling me the teams in that group had more quality players in it?, just because you beat a certain team doesn't mean you are better, you should check out the premier league.

But if you do crash out of it, you don't deserve to reach further, but don't tell me the quality of the other teams are better.

Speaking generally, the German players are probably overall better than the Mexican players, but they're losing shape I guess, or they were just too cocky for this game and thought it would be easy to take out Mexico. My point was that if Germany (or other top teams for that matter) continuously lose their games, it means that the other teams have better quality players and are playing better than them. This game for Germany could have been a one off time where they had some bad luck and weren't in top form for the game, or they could be getting worse. Only time and future matches will tell us that for sure.

Mexico doesn't have low quality players either, otherwise they wouldn't be able to put such pressure on Germany and have such a good game. Mexico has a great team with lots of good players.

My opinion remains the same that it would be nice to see some new teams make it into the top stages of this tournament, and seeing Germany crash out of it early would be fun because they're the reigning champions. That's my take on it, you see it differently which is cool. No point in furthering this discussion really.

On another note, good game by Russia against Egypt tonight. Well deserved win.

As I am going to buy a new PC, I thought it could be helpful if people would have the opportunity to post their set ups (or what they want to buy etc.) on a thread, thus creating this. I hope we have some people with knowledge in this area (i only got the basic stuff you need to know) and are able to help others out.

Merged your thread into the previously existing thread to keep it more clean in the sub-board.

Sure, I agree with you that the quality gets better past the group stage, definitely. Iceland was actually battered 5-2, but it is unlikely that another team going through in the place of Iceland would be off much better.

I disagree that if Germany and Brazil get beaten out the quality of the matches the quality of the other matches will be bad, because for them to be beaten it will require skill, and not just pure luck. If the other teams manage to beat out Germany and Brazil from the group stage, it does mean that the quality of those teams is significantly better than the quality of Germany and Brazil. Some people like to cheer for the underdogs, and I for one think that it would be fun to see the old champions beaten by some new, unknown teams that you wouldn't expect to do well in the competition. This does not mean that the quality of the football will be worse though. I get where you're coming from, but I highly doubt that the quality of this WC will drop if we don't see Germany and Brazil make it past the group stage. This is very unlikely as well, I think they'll both certainly make it past. The chances of that not happening are quite low.

If you ask me, I think its more exciting to see the teams who you didn't expect much of to do well. Much like we saw in Euro 2016 with Iceland.

Brazil 3-1 Swiss

You were wrong, 1-1.

Germany never wins in Russia  ;)

Hahaha.

Yeah I'm glad Germany didn't win, makes the World Cup a bit more interesting. I hope they don't even make it past group stage tbh.

Agreed. If Brazil doesn't get out of the group stage it will make it even more interesting, but somehow I doubt that will happen. Seems like they might end up drawing against Switzerland though, which surely isn't the start they would have hoped for.
Yeah if Brazil and Germany don't make it pass the group stages the WC will be more interesting.. ???

Absolutely, we're getting new young footballers into the game and nations with previously bad teams are getting better. Do you think its exciting to see the same teams be the best teams year after year?

If Germany and Brazil are some of the 'best' at this moment, surely the teams that beat them must be better? That wouldn't make the WC less interesting, since the high level of skill would still be there.

Would be nice to see some increased forum activity and have the new members sign up for an account on the forums as well. This would increase the chances of them sticking around, as they'd be part of a bigger community.

Can't wait to see the Serbs in action

Odyssey is looking pretty sick actually, been a while since I last looked forward to an AC game. I think this'll be good. The setting is quite nice too.

We'll probably have to wait a bit though, keep in mind the game is only in it's pre-production phase so far.

Ubisoft is having a cool show right now, waiting for Odyssey but they seem to be saving that for last. They'll be giving away For Honor for free this week on Uplay, which is pretty nice of them.
