There may be a way around it if you remove the hat from the prussianhat brf file and add them in the uniform brf file instead and add a separate hat to each uniform as an extra item(re positioned so it is on the head instead of the floor) and then rig them using the French Cuirassiers helmet rigging so they move with the model.
Never tried this myself with hats, but that is how i get around the pants being shared problem.
I tried that for my NW mod, it works until you enter first person view, then the hat bobs around your vision as your character runs and gets irritating very quickly.
Parrot answered you I tried that too when I worked on my project fot the "Ve Corps" (before it was drop with the update). For plumes on shakos, it's a lesser evil but the entire hat it's just Hell
Make it replace the KGL in British faction, and I'd love you long time.

That's possible, although it will take a lot of adjustments to the pants of basically every nation in NW It's no small change and you'll need to pass out all the brfs you change. The pants that are connected to the KGL are the French infantry pants (or coldstream pants, I can't remember now), and the Russian dragoon pants for the officer. Don't forget to check which other units share the same pants (basically all the UK officers use the Russian dragoon pants)
