Not true as guys like Scottish were wearing NCO ranks when they joined and even said they merged.

Not that it matters though
Scottish was the only guy with NCO rank because I knew him and wanted him there regardless.. All of his other guys had Recruit or Private lmao..

Lawrence wasn't banned. This is not really a merge as the majority of members were a part of the previous regiment together, more of a reformation. See it as you will either way we are doing fine.

- John Price.

Regimental History 1801-1815
'The Slashers'

The whole regiment landed in Egypt in 1801, where it simultaneously beat off cavalry attacks on both sides of its line at Alexandria. The square was the more usual formation for repelling cavalry but there was not enough time to form one, so the rear ranks of the line about-turned. This gave the unit the distinction of wearing a cap badge on the front and the Egyptian sphinx on the back of its headdress.

In 1804 the regiment raised a 2nd Battalion. In 1805 1st Battalion moved to fight in North Germany, from where it was redeployed to Copenhagen (1807), Sweden (1808) and finally the Peninsula (1808). It was evacuated from Corunna, but a detachment remained behind, where it was joined by 2nd Battalion in 1809. The rest of 1st Battalion was sent to Holland on the Walcheren Expedition (1809), but re-joined the detachment in the Peninsula in 1810.

By 1811 2nd Battalion had suffered such heavy losses in the Peninsula that most of its survivors were drafted into 1st Battalion. The rest returned to England to re-recruit, remaining there until disbandment in 1814. 1st Battalion remained in the Peninsula until 1814, seeing action at Talavera (1809), Barrosa (1811), Albuhera (1811) and Vittoria (1813).

Waterloo Honour
They were one of the few Peninsula veteran regiments which were available for the Hundred Days campaign and fought in the battles of Quatre Bras and Waterloo as part of the 8th Brigade commanded by James Kempt. Because of their actions in this campaign, they earned distinguished mention in the dispatches of the Duke of Wellington. During the Hundred Days the 28th continued to wear the old style stovepipe shako, distinguishing them from most British regiments that had adopted the new Belgic shako.

About the 28th
The 28th are led by veteran and experienced officers that have been in the community for at least four years. Based on discipline and organization, it is not the goal of the 28th's to be the best melee groupfighting regiment, but a regiment that is highly organized, stable, and competitive. We require our members to be 16 years of age or older; however, new players are welcome as well! We will be glad to accept new faces and train them into disciplined soldiers. Our schedule is structured around 2-3 events and 1 training per week.

Our long lasting history means that we understand what it means and what it takes to lead a regiment that has an open balance between fun and disciplined. We currently have 2 companies. Centre and Grenadiers. Both function the same however the leading style of both is different.

If you're interested in a well organized, historically accurate, and competitive regiment the 28th is for you. You will stay the rank of recruit for a total of 6 events (2 weeks). Pick up the kings shilling lads! Recruitment offices are open in North Gloucestershire. Click here. to speak to the recruitment officer.
