The Tradition of the 1er Regiment de Grenadiers reaches back to 1799, where they served as part of the Guards Division of the Consul. From 1805 on, they have been the finest Regiment in the Garde Impériale, serving the first French Emperor, Napoleon I. It was active until the Fall of the First French Empire and the following 100 Days of Napoleons Reign, but was disbanded after. It was Napoleon III who was reinstated the Regiment in 1854, making it the first and finest Regiment of the newly formed Guarde Impériale, following the Tradition of his Ancestor.
