Regimental Introduction
The 1stSL is a North American regiment for Mount & Blade Warband: Napoleonic Wars. Formed out of the ranks of many regiments, the 1stSL's aim is to accurately depict historic discipline and drill in Linebattle events. We take pride in the fact of knowing the difference between having fun and trolling/being a dickhead. We are a laid-back and life oriented regiment with no mandatory events (making events when you can). We sustain an active community and bolster friendships among the ranks. The 1stSL is led by Warlord and Hockey.
History
In 1740, the annexation of Silesia by King Frederick II the Great of Prussia was welcomed by many Silesians. Frederick based his claims on the Treaty of Brieg and began the War of the Austrian Succession (1740–1748). By war's end, the Kingdom of Prussia had conquered almost all of Silesia, minus some parts of Silesia in the southeast. The Seven Years' War (1756–1763) confirmed Prussian control over most of Silesia.
In 1806 confederates of Napoleon invaded Silesia. Only the forts of Glatz, Silberberg and Cosel withstood until the Treaties of Tilsit. After the adoption of the reforms of Stein and Hardenberg between 1807 and 1812 Silesia was fully incorporated into Prussia.
In 1813 Silesia became the center of the revolt against Napoleon. The royal family moved to Breslau and Frederick William III published the letter An mein Volk (to my people) which called the German people to arms. The experience of the war of liberation strengthened the bond of Silesians to Prussia and the Province of Silesia became one of Prussia's most loyal provinces.
The landwehr in Prussia was first formed by a royal edict of 17 March 1813, which called up all men capable of bearing arms between the ages of eighteen and forty-five, and not serving in the regular army, for the defence of the country. After the peace of 1815 this force was made an integral part of the Prussian army, each brigade being composed of one line and one Landwehr regiment.
