Seppuku? That's pretty heavy for a re-enactment, slowly disemboweling yourself as your friend mercifully removes your head.

When I am hit I tend to be very un-dramatic.

This is my rule of thumb for different styles of Re-enactment
Civil War- If in face/head
  Grab face and fall forward
  Snap head back and fall
Torso- may fall backward or forward depending on where I'm hit I may twist
When charging I trip

WW1- Usually when heavily laden with my P08 equipment I will fall to my knees, fall forward, or fall to the side

Artillery-I let the concussion do most of the job

Occasionally I will scream but usually I just plain out die not much for getting wounded.

The way I cry and pluck at my comrades would make them want to mercy kill me in real life I decided if I get hit I die a few years ago at Shiloh. I tried playing wounded and and cracked a rib falling back into a tree the branch broke it like a twig. From then on in open combat I just die

My first event as a ACW re-enactor was with the First Nebraska Volunteer Infantry and we used to do skirmishes at the J. Sterling Morton Farm home of Arbor day. I was fourteen and taking part in a skirmish when I got hit in the face while marching with the line. The pain was pretty bad and I grabbed my face and fell forward partially because i was hit and partially to stop the burning sensation on my face. I was the first casualty in the skirmish. it was my first battle re-enactment before that I helped cook at the Federal camp.

Adelbert Ames mustered the 20th Maine into service and Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain led the 20th Maine after Ames was promoted. They both went on to be Brigadier Generals and stayed in the same corps for the entire war. Adelbert Ames died in 1933 making him the longest surviving General of the American Civil War including Galusha Pennypacker. They were both teachers
