Hello fellow community members. I am apricotes1. A long time community/regiment leader and event host. I have finally decided to try developing a mod for M&B Napoleonic Wars. Although it is not easy, i am determined to develop the first Russian Civil War mod for M&B. I've decided to call it Red October describing the period in October when the Bolsheviks, Red Army, took up arms and fought against the Whites, Menshevicks, Imperialists, and other minorities fighting for the Tsar. And now I give you the details of this mod.

There should be a game mode where one team plays as the Tsar and his family and servants and the other team revolutionists that have to murder them in cold blood. That'd be interesting asymmetric gameplay.

Well considering the Russian civil war was just over a 100 years after the Napoleonic wars there should be quite a few new features. Much more than a Crimean mod could add in fact, regardless of how much I'd prefer that.

I expected someone to bring that up. At least TCW would have new gameplay through changes to gamemode functionality (which most of which is too much to get into right now), when all that's shown with this mod that hasn't been done before is tubas and trumpets.

I guess I'm just being aggressively critical. Good luck with the mod, I'd like to see some new stuff done in it.

I myself am Russian and have seen nearly every RCW movie there is. In my opinion Chapayev was the best. Admiral was good too. These are the movies that led me to making this mod. I am for the Red Army

Believe me, i am very familiar with the Russian Civil War, however when i first release the mod there will be a White and red faction, both of which had cossacks on their side, and maybe later I will include other factions that actually fought.

The "green armies" were uncoordinated, spontaneous uprisings of the rural peasantry and sometimes urban workers usually fed up with the fighting, confiscation of materials, and conscription of men by both the Whites and the Reds. Attempts to organize them or recruit their help was almost always a failure. Their aims, when they had any, were usually anarchistic, but they lacked the education to articulate their goals in such language. That's why they're not an army, but many armies, split up across provinces and mostly unrelated to each other.

What you should do, rather than making a whole new thread, is just have people reserve regiments in this thread. No need for a whole new thread for a mod that has barely been started. Later on down the road, when you actually start having lots of things to show, you can open another thread for regiments.

I am the main developer of Russian Civil War mod for Warband. Lets better call it main developer of "updating team". We were working on porting RCW mod from 1.011 to Warband. It worries me though that this mod has so much support with little shown progress. Little from this mod has been shown yet, and I would say that's normal as what modders show all of their progress, but they did say the first update would come shortly when the thread went up, and yet there was only what, two things shown thus far? The original update planned below has still not been shown. Maybe I'm just butthurt because I'm a big fan of the Nagant.
