Here we will show the current goals for the next patch and the near / far future

This will get updated from time to time, so stay tuned and follow the thread.

The current goals for version 0.4 (next update):


New Units:

Confederates

Confederate Volunteer Regiment
7th Georgia Volunteer Infantry
4th South Carolina Volunteer Infantry
Palmetto Riflemen

Union

Union Volunteer Regiment
2nd Wisconsin Infantry
2nd Rhode Island Volunteer Infantry
11th New York "Fire Zouaves" Infantry
1st U.S. Marine Corps

Other Stuff:

New Updater included (Look at posting number 4)
New voice replacements for many sounds (No more german voices for the union)
Some new music tracks
New map props: Civil War styled Fences, corn plants, new civil war houses/farms and more
Some new maps
Lieutenant General unit added for the Confederate High Command class
Some new uniforms for the High Command Staff
New regimental flags for various units
Officers spawn with a horse now. If you don't need it, feel free to dismount at start!

Fixes:

Slightly nerfed revolver
Double Barrel Shotguns accuracy lowered
Increased the speed of artillery train
Increased building points for officer tent

I am aware of that game since 5 or 6 months I think. They contacted me, when I restarted the work on north and south, so I was always imformed. Their new game wont be out before 2014, so we have much time to work on our mod and I hope many NW regiments will join the mod now, to get a look into civil war warfare!
So I think its a great opportunity to get this mod more public and offering much fun the next 12+ months or more :)
The new update is offering so much new stuff, to get some more NW guys to our site ;)

If it isn't too late, can you add the option of rifle or musket for every infantry troop? Make them the same reload speed, but obviously the rifle is more accurate at the cost of a bayonet. Also, maybe add the bayonet swords they they use for the Austrian units in NW?

Its not a patch, its a complete new version.
So it will be a new module folder called "North and South" .. after that, you will download patches with your new updater tool :)

When its ready? When its done, there is no installer made yet :)

Alright guys, here is the truth:

We can't make it today (16th). We have some very strange problems with the bayonet script atm.. and cause of the time delay between Azrooh (USA) and Nytech (Germany), we can't get it fixed today, Nytech is not available for now.

The good thing is: It shouldnt take so much more time. We could make it before the saturday line battle!

I'm very sorry for that, but modding is very strange some times.

We are trying to simulate a knock out with a rifle butt. There is a chance, that your enemy will hit the ground, when you hit him with your unbayoneted rifle butt :)

Not bad. It needs a lot of polishing.

1. When the soldier rips the cartridge with his teeth, he doesn't take it from a pouch prior?

---> The animation should begin with the soldier pulling the new cartridge from his ammo pouch. It should not start with him ripping the cartridge pouch with his teeth.

2. When the soldier prepares the percussion cap, why does he hold the gun at the barrel end? That is far too unnatural. Hinkel, these guns weighed a solid 10+ pounds. That needs to be fixed.

---> If he's going to grab percussion caps, add the percussion cap pouch to soldiers. Just putting that out there.
---> As for holding the barrel, have him hold it closer to the middle.

3. When he is ramming the shot, his arm bends in a most unnatural way.

4. I love the sounds! It's cool when he "spits out" the paper cartridge after ripping with his teeth. I like... Sir. I like!

5. I like the new aiming animation. It looks so close to the face, that in first person you can nearly aim down the sights of the gun?

having major problems with the damn updater


keeps showing me with older version despite me updating

then when i go on the server only one or two servers show up and show ME as having a too new version.

makes no sense

I don't understand why you guys decided to do this updater nonsense. It's causing more harm than gain. It would have been far easier to do it the regular way all mods work, or at least have manual files to install. This updater rarely every works for me, I have to completely uninstall the mod every time and reinstall it, and just hope the updater will work.

Like, right now, for example, I'm trying to update the game through the updater, it "updates" but the mod version remains at .401 and not .402 like how it should. Can you guys start putting up files so we can manually install this mod?

No, I'm not. There's also a huge lag issue... And, the reason for it, I haven't a clue. It's at least 3x lag as it was before for me.

No, I'm not. There's also a huge lag issue... And, the reason for it, I haven't a clue. It's at least 3x lag as it was before for me.

Just in general. I struggle to get fps higher than 20...
Have you tried switching to DX 7 on your options menu on your M&B Launcher?

Yes... everything is lowest settings...
