We have updated Warband's Steam beta (use the password "betapassword" for access) to 1.161 in preparation for an upcoming DLC announcement! This patch introduces a haul of new operations for modders.

We'll bring this patch out in full in a few days on Steam.

Old mods will be compatible. To use the new operations (you may be able to hack them in yourselves by manually entering the operations) we will provide the module system ASAP. More info on that soon!

Save games from old versions WILL be compatible with this version but save games from this version WILL NOT be compatible with old versions.

It is nApoleonic wArs!111 which is being developed by MekkilsSuperHaus. It is going to have both an SP and an MP mode.

I just got word from Taleworlds that we are now allowed to share its name.

It is nApoleonic wArs!111 which is being developed by MekkilsSuperHaus. It is going to have both an SP and an MP mode.

I do strongly doubt that they are running out of money, but if you think about; NW was a huge success in terms of sales as well as marketing.
A good SP DLC will do the same, however I personally think that they should be careful in not overdoing it as then bannerlords SP might initially (pre-mods) fall short.
Also, Taleworlds get's money from Turkish goverment to stimulate the Turkish Game Industry (with from what I have been told a grand total of 2 big developers of which one is taleworlds and the other is doing mobile / platform games....).

Could it be SiCh Studios developing the dlc, someone completely new or maybe even Taleworlds themselves who put some extra workers on it?(I doubt it's Taleworlds)

What do you guys think and feel about this?

I personally would like to see some a new company or something since I was very disappointed with WFaS of course that doesn't mean they will disappoint me again it just gave me a terrible first impression of them. And of course it's always fun to see someone new rise up from the modding community.

That is not true. Sich worked on the game and released a Beta, we tested the beta and told them 100 things they have to fix and improve, we even fixed some of their code.
But instead of doing anything, they released it half done.

WFAS failed and Taleworlds canceled NW. After a week of discussion we managed to convince Taleworlds not to cancel NW. However, SP was canceled and NW was converted from standalone to DLC.

Anyway, Sich never touched WFAS again. Taleworlds patched it for them and added a bunch of functionality that actually made the game playable.

Am I the only one who thouroughly hates Brytenwalda? I thought it was a ridiculous mod, where there was too much shit going on at the same time, the factions were a disorganised jumble of shit and where it was near damn impossible to grow compareable to a lord's party because there were too few villages to actually raise a proper levy within 100 hours? I just thought it was too unorganised to be enjoyed. Although I must credit them for their extensive expansion in playing possibilities and the vast amount of scenery and modelling work that was put in.

The team behind Vikingr is not involved with the new dlc, so that leaves Brytenwalda as the only viable team to go for a dlc.

Am I the only one who thouroughly hates Brytenwalda? I thought it was a ridiculous mod, where there was too much shit going on at the same time, the factions were a disorganised jumble of shit and where it was near damn impossible to grow compareable to a lord's party because there were too few villages to actually raise a proper levy within 100 hours?

I think, for all it's unpolished issues, Brytenwalda appealed to a large crowd because it was difficult and therefore rewarding to play, for the exact same reasons you stated.

Edit: multiplayer almost unplayable. Horrendous shield sounds, characters teleporting although the ping is good and there is few players.

So from what I'm reading so far, the main complaint of many people is the bugs. This is a pretty good sign I guess - all fixable stuff, nothing inherently wrong with the game itself. People are saying it looks a little worse than the screenshots let on, but it has better graphics than other M&B titles. Basically the verdict is wait til it's patched to buy it.

Hard to tell what is due to bugs and what is due to the game itself. Players are running very fast and therefore the basis of combat is running.

Edit: Alright, I only played multiplayer, but it's pretty much just a buggier native. There's very little difference at all between the two games. Not really worth the money at all unless the singleplayer is good.

First Impressions:
Story beyond the first 20 minutes is nothing incredible, reminds me of Native Warband's one
Graphics are fab, but the framerate is very unsteady. I had to lower my res to 900p and push everything off to get about 60-70 fps. However, the performance in MP is atrociously bad and definitely needs patching ASAP
Loading screens take far too long :( Same with changing one's graphics options - they take too long to implement before you can get back into the game
The world map in SP looks better than Native, but if you Ctrl-Space to fast forward your fps plummets to something like 20 fps - meaning that you cant react as quickly to avoid enemies/ bandits etc
The towns look nice and detailed and small things like the NPCs' names and variation in clothing make it seem a little more realistic
Comabt AI on Good is actually quite challenging - enemies spam feints, block nearly every parry and generally act slightly more human than the Native equivalent (and I was a noob back then)

However, I bought it for the SP, so its ok up to now Imo. The MP, from what I have heard, needs patching and general optimistaion, especially on maps with ships :D

This game pushes Warband's shit amazing Dazubo engine to its limits, and it shows, in both a positive and a negative way. NW was better :D

MP: Shit. Lags so bad you can't react. Hitboxes are royally fucked. Little gear choices, meaning everyone practically uses the same garbage and look the same as well. Damage is so low on weapons, it takes 3+ hits, if landed good, to kill someone. Glancing is by far the worst in any Warband DLC or mod, way worse than in NW currently.

SP: Shit. Loading takes fucking forever. Constant crashing. Framerate on map drops by 20+, meaning I get around 20-30fps on the map. However, some cities are very well done, there are bugs and graphical glitches.

Overall? I wasted $11.

Im surprised that it only crashed once for me, when I tried to lower the resolution from 1080p to 900p. However, since I was looking for an excuse to play some of the campaign, it does seem that this was worth purchasing for me just for the SP (even though the price is quite steep). Hopefully, if they sort out the technical issues, the SP is gonna be fine, and that's all I really care about atm. I have NW for Multi :P

Honestly, my overall rating would only be a 3/10 (5 points for MP, and 5 points for SP)... Here is why I chose such a low rating.


To begin; multiplayer just doesn't make the cut. There is such a small amount of gear, you literally get everyone, no matter the faction, using practically the same weapons and armor (which hardly exists, since it's all cloth and linen outfitting). The hitboxes for multiplayer are probably the worst I have ever dealt with, even worse than the ones that were released with the Napoleonic Wars DLC (which actually felt like a DLC). It's so hard to hit someone, and if you do, 4/5 times it's a damn glance, meaning only 5-10% damage. Building off of that, in regards to hitboxes and damage... why the fuck do I have to slash or smash someone four or more times to kill them? Why the hell do javelins immediately wreck shields, but you have to use all the javelins you have to kill someone? The balance in the multiplayer version of this mod, is just... UGH! I can't. I just can't. I am literally can't evening right now. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ruJBKFrRCk) The performance is just lacking too. So much lag, invisible walls and graphical glitches, I had to stop playing within the hour I started playing the multiplayer. One thing I do like are the maps, they're made pretty good, but still have their faults. In summary:

- Poor gear selection, practically the same crappy weapons and outfits for all factions, just slightly reskinned.
- Melee hitboxes, SUCK!
      - Glancing happens too often.
- Melee and ranged damage is not balanced even semi-realistically. Too many hits to kill opponent.
- Multiplayer performance is atrocious, probably wasn't even tested and optimized.
- Multiplayer contains so many graphical glitches and coding errors, especially for naval battles.
+ Maps are alright, some very cool to play on.

I would rate the multiplayer in itself, only a 1/5.

As for the single player, I crashed in the first 20 minutes of playing. How are you going to release a singleplayer focused "DLC" with such shite optimzation and performance. Problems I encountered included terrible lag on the campaign map, sometimes dropping 20-30fps, even 40fps at times. Loading into towns takes forever, loading back into the campaign map is even worse. Shipwrights glitch out for me, and crash every time I try to buy a ship. The story is not too different than in Native, but the setting is great. It's one of the few positive things about singleplayer. Recruiting new men to fight for you is awesome, and you get the sense of them gaining power and skill with you. In summary:

- Consistent crashing...
      - Was this "DLC" tested and optimized?
- Loading times are ridiculous.
- The singleplayer is riddled with bugs and glitches, many of which cause me to crash.
+ Story is cool, but not far off from native.
      + Has a great flare to it.
+ Setting rocks, it's a great period in history.
+ Sense of accomplishment when you win battles, provided they even load for you/don't crash your comptuer.

Rating for singleplayer would 2/5.


I honestly would highly recommend against buying this "DLC," which again feels more like a mod than anything... It's just not all there yet, and it needs HEAVY patching to be good and stable to keep my interest in it. I would much rather play Vikingr (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,202.0.html), as it feels far more accomplished and polished, even without a singleplayer mode. I'm going to put Viking Conquest on the back burner for a few weeks to a few months. See what's been done then.

Yeh I got through some more of the story, and I have to say that the worst thing are the completely unoptimised graphics. I am quite intrigued by the story, and I feel that there is exactly the right amount of narrative (which gives you a goal in the world and focuses your preparations on a certain event).
HOWEVER, the graphics haved been pushed all the way down to Low for me to be able to actually fight in battles without the fps dropping below 25-30, and, by doing so, the world looks bland and ugly, with the animations being meh- average. Travelling on the world map is a disaster, with 10 fps and all kinds of clipping and shit going on - it really makes you want to get to your destination sooner. Al the SP in-game menus are copy-pasted str8from Warband.. lazy pricks.
That being said, if that huge optimisation issue is fixed soon (like, yesterday), and I can enjoy at least Native-level graphics again, I really am interested now to see how my character pans out in the short term, with assassinations and raids and all kinds of shit going on atm 3 hours in.

PATCH THIS SHIT AND MAKE US HAPPY

My framrate on the campaign map is constantly on 15fps and on between 3 and 10 when I'm in battle. It doesn't change when I lower graphic options, the only thing that happens when I change the graphics is that my game crashes.

EDIT: I changed them to low and I have 60fps. But there didn't change anything between "very high" and "medium". So there must be a certain thing that I disabled when I went down to "low".

I believe taleworlds was somewhat involved with this... They made changes to native as well. The lowest settings are now looking even worse. The banners are a prime example.

I'm not entirely sure if the dev team is fully to blame... Knowing the work of some of them. I doubt they would have ever allowed it to be released in a state like it is now.

Hm, didn't have this problem. Isn't it possible to just not talk to her while you are on the beach?

Btw, the storyline ist incredibly extensive. At this point you maybe accomplished a third or a quarter of it. I played 8 hours today and did not finish it yet.

Yeah you can avoid her, problem is you have to talk to her to continue the storyline, but i can't get through the conversation.

At a certain point of the main story line you will be stuck in a dialogue and can only get out by pressing Alt+F4. Everybody is experiencing this at Taleworlds forums. You cannot continue the campaign from this point.

Such a garbage. The only thing they would have needed to do is to play the storyline one time themselves before release.

I was really enjoying this game in multiplayer and especially in singleplayer up to this point.

Is anyone on the "Be a Viking" mission where you have to retrieve Bodo's letter? The only way to do this is to go to the port master and get the info. Of course, he wants you to do something and thats give some furs to a man called Hogni in Dublin. I've been all around the city and have searched it relentlessly. Is anyone else on this mission and unable to find Hogni?

I haven't noticed much yet, although from my understanding it's mainly a crash fixing patch. And I haven't really had any problems with crashes so not much for me to notice.

Missing Textures have been fixed, and broken quest bugs such as the Brunhild bug. Most SP bug fixes.

Just completed the odin's cave mission, As long as bodo is kept alive, then t will work fine. if he is 'semi-conscious' then you should press tab immediately and press approach again.

I couldn't agree more.
This DLC is a paid-for DLC. 'Playable' is not enough for a supposedly finished product. The quick hotfixes coming make up for it but next time the release date should not be rushed. The 11th of December was too early as it is painfully obvious with all the bug reports.

Bug Free? Hell no  :'(
Playable? The crashes and memory leaks are gone, yet it takes a heavy toll on your computer. There's a lot of improvements still to be made, but the SP Campaign will be worth the purchase anyway :D

When I want to start him up he starts to beep and I get a black screen. I tried to replace the memory things (don't know the exact word in English sorry  :-\ ) But it's not that. They said they would fix the problem. But it all sounds wierd to me.  :-\
