Hello chaps, I'd like this thread to be a place to recommend books and also where you can ask others where you can find a specific book.

I'd personally recommend the True Soldier Gentlemen books by Adrian Goldsworthy, set in the Napoleonic Wars here you follow a group of young subalterns as they make their way through the war. It's a bit like Sharpe but with gentlemen, not ruffians

Though I admit at the moment I'm looking for a book set in the late 40's or the 1950's/early 60's something preferably set around police or perhaps similiar to the mad men series. Oh and set in LA or New York. Thanks chaps.

The Lord of the Rings. It is such a great trilogy. Then when you are done, there is thousands upon thousands of more pages of lore to dvelve into.

I also recall reading the Eragon series some time back. It's not as great as Lotr, and it is targeted at younger audiences, and it is pretty much a fantasy version of Star Wars, but I recall it as decent.

I managed to find all three books in, merged into one book, with original illustrations from Alan Lee, for 3€. Easily my best purchase ever.

I've read the Sword of Truth series which was damn good and currently working my way through the last books of the Wheel of Time series (highly recommend it).
Still waiting for the next book of the Stormlight Archive, but I should probably finish the Mistborn series first.

I've also read a few books by Robin Hobb, like the Farseer trilogy and the Soldier Son trilogy. They were okay, but the fact that the main characters were total failures at the one thing they were supposed to do seems to be a recurring topic of her work.

Thing I'm wondering is, would you rather read it paperback or e-ink?

I have a suggestion of book series and that would be the CHERUB series, I read them a lot when I was around 13/14 and its about a government agency that uses people from the ages of 11-17 as spies, gives them education on campus and shit, its a really good series of books (if a little action filmish) but I would say well worth a read.

Yeah, it's a brilliant series!
I've also read "And Another Thing" which brings the series to a trilogy of 6 books although it isn't by Douglas Adams as you may know.
