As I live in Australia (Planning to create a Prussian reenactment unit) it would have to be shipped over.

This place has most, if not all, of what you need for a Silesian musketeer uniform. The best part, for you? It's Australia based.

I've never ordered from them myself, so I can't vouch for them in that regards, though. But I'm pretty sure they're one of, if not the only place, that sells those items.

If you are starting a re-enactment unit I don't think starting as an officer is a good idea.

how many years have you done the hobby?
Of course, I also think lines should be able to move in double rank without having emotional breakdowns.

I've done some medieval and wanted to into Napoleonic. I live in NSW... and couldn't find anyone So me and a couple of mates want to start a Prussian unit.

But what's really driving me at the moment is I've just seen the BGA 150th Gettysburg event and it was amazing.

I still think Waterloo with fancy uniforms, cavarly and bagpipes is going to be just as awesome.

What prussian unit are you thinking about? What period?

More the 1812-1815 period but I'm open to suggestions

Also didn't they limit Waterloo to 4000 reenactors?

This year there were about a thousand re-enactors in total and it was already very cool to be in it (Even though I was more of a spectator then a participant)

I suppose numbers don't make the experience. Of course, I'm still not a huge fan of the 4000 limit, but when you remember that's only for the armed re-enactors, the total number will still be around 6.000. And don't worry - The organization is so bad you can easily join in with a couple of more guys then you signed up for, as long as you bring your own cartridges. I suspect there will be hundreds of 'ghost'-re-enactors.

The only issue with that is space. The organisation is famous for giving regiments too little space, both in battle and in camp, and that's for all-signed up regiments. Oh Belgium...

I don't know where to get a prussian uniform from, especcially in Australia.  :D

But you have to think of what kind of unit you want to reenact. Landwehr, Füsiliers/Fusiliers, Grenadiers, Musketeers, Jägers, "Reserve-Infanterie" (IRs 13 - 24) , ...

And the link above, the shako isn't the best, perhaps the Musketeers didn't were this kind of shako. But most of the things look good.

There were two russians (Or apparantly russians in Prussian uniform), as well as a russian arty crew. But I didn't see any Swedes. Maybe you mistook the Brunswich Avant-Garde for them.

One of my bigger gripes with NW is seeing a decent sized line of about 30-40 guys and seeing 7 different wildly different units in it. Breaks the immersion, IMO.

I'm sure there's some other Prussian units down under.
Humans are extremely complicated creatures. Death uncomplicates them to a frightening degree...

That's mostly in small-scaled international events. It's the problem with having such different uniforms.

Though, I must say, it's absolutely terrific to go to a big event where all regiments are in their own lines and formations. Looks absolutely awesome, and gives some nice experiences.

"He, those guys left...they are blue...Must be French!"
"Could be Dutch"
"Nah, Dutch don't wear blue pants, I'm telling you, it's French light infantry"
"But their plumes are white...Are there any French lighties with white plumes?"

etc etc.

Also, an ACW rebel re-enactor telling Napoleonics they have bad uniformity is just...wrong  :P
