Historical Name: Nr.18/1. Westfälischen Infanterie Regiment
Faction:Prussia
Background Information: Formerly the 6th RIR (The Prussians kept their trained line infantry as reserves to deal with the French imposed limitations of their standing army). Regiment No 12 and all the ex-Reserve units except the 13th, 16th, 17th and 20th Regiments took part in the Waterloo campaign. The 18th Regiment suffered the heaviest casualties of any Prussian Infantry unit: 21 officers, 49 NCOs and 740 men killed or wounded -- and gained 33 Iron Crosses in one afternoon's fighting round Placenoit. They and the 15th Regiment, committed straight from an exhausting cross-country march against fresh troops of the Imperial Guard, bore the brunt of the struggle and it was fitting that the ex-Reservists should have a rôle on the final victory.

The Nr. 18 recruited from Westphalia region in West Prussia was involved in the 1806 campaigns against Napoleon. The Prussian Army was decisively defeated by the French at the battle of Jena–Auerstedt. The Prussian army heavily outdated and out matched by their enemies went through military reforms. Reformed into the 1st Westfälischen Infantry Regiment, yes the 1stWFI we know today in the community. Regiment No 12 and all the ex-Reserve units except the 13th, 16th, 17th and 20th Regiments took part in the Waterloo campaign. Today the Nr. 18 is a active regiment that hopes to be a competitive in skirmishes and linebattle's. Relying on discipline & activity we hope to be a respected regiment in the North American Community. All Nr. 18 members are expected to use Historically accurate names from the period.

    Nr.18 in 1815

The Nr.18 has few basic rules. We require all of our members to follow them without hesitation. Our rules are listed below.

    Behavior

Misbehavior and 'trolling' will not be tolerated in the Nr.18. This offense will lead most likely a discharge from the Regiment. We do not enjoy kicking players out; however, if we feel they are a negativity to the group, they will have to go. This is just to ensure we have a steady and responsible player-base.
    Respect

Disrespecting anyone in the Nr.18 or anyone else in the community is a serious offense that will not be taken lightly. As a player, you should respect everyone in the community, especially your fellow brothers and officers within the Nr.18. Respecting you in-game 'tags' is another responsibility our players will partake. When in a server or battle with your 'tags' on, you should act mature and responsible; for if you fail to do this, you will make the regiment look bad and immediately relieved from the Nr.18.
    Activity

We Require all of our members that join to be active as possible; however, the officers do realize that real life comes first and we are happy to let our men miss events due to real life issues. If this becomes to much of a problem for certain people, they will be relieved. Essentially, make as many events as possible and contact your company Officer and let him know you will not be attending.

We're apart of the 8eCC as a European cavalry company. North American we're the Nr.18 and European we are the 8eCC.
Below is a brief description of the 8eCC

    Spoiler

    About Our Regiment

The 8e Chasseurs-à-cheval is an european mounted infantry regiment. The regiment is divided in two companies, a french and an english-speaking one. We play together ingame but we stay in separated teamspeak channels during the events. As we aim to be a skilled and structured unit, we believe that strong discipline is essential. The recruitment is open to all kind of players - from new ones to veterans - as long as they are ready to follow orders. Great deeds, mature behaviour and progress are rewarded in the 8e Chasseurs-à-cheval through promotions and medals while inappropriate manners, disrespect and repeated absences may lead to warnings or punishments. Our members are expected to be respectful towards both external members of the community and other members of our regiment. As you may know we are part of the french Ve Corps but nonetheless we do enjoy a great autonomy as a regiment.

In order to join the 8e Chasseurs-à-cheval, applicants must meet our etiquette. Therefore maturity, the ability to remain silent on Teamspeak during the events and obedience are strongly required. Applicants must also be sure that they can attend our mandatory events, which will be held twice a week. If you are interested to join or if you want more information, add me on steam (You will find the link below).

    ***

There are other things you should consider before joining. First, as a true Chasseurs-à-cheval regiment we play ingame as mounted infantry. It means that, basically, we are quickly riding from a shooting position A to a shooting position B. As did the horse chasseurs during the napoleonic wars, our horses are used for both tactical deployment and charge. Therefore, our chasseurs must be efficient at shooting & melee fighting. Do not worry if you are not comfortable with those skills: a weekly training is organized to get that working. However if you are looking for a very aggressive heavy cavalry regiment that loves frontal charge I recommand you not to join. Horse Chasseurs were light cavalry, used to harass and torment the ennemy - we intend to do so. In order to fight with a musket we have to pick the french dragoon troop ingame, whose uniforms and equipment were changed into historically accurate chasseur clothes. You love the napoleonic era? You have always dreamed of being a chasseur-à-cheval? Our regiment is for you.

Today the Nr. 18 is a active regiment that hopes to be a competitive in skirmishes and linebattle's. Relying on discipline & activity we hope to be a respected regiment in the North American Community. All Nr. 18 members are expected to use Historically accurate names from the period.

              87th Realism event

              About the realism event
The realism linebattle is going to be different in many ways compared to the traditional linebattles we play.
Regiments will be forced to work more closely together.
There will be a more extensive ruleset implemented then the ones we are used to following in the traditional linebattles. Understanding these rules is crucial.  This line battle will focus on realism of how lines maneuvered and worked together.
Important to know we will host this once a month on the last Saturday

In the past there were a some events that focused on a certain battle or focused on a more realistic rule set.
Those events were a blast! Since there is a lack of these events in the Community, we want to introduce it again. To give you a sense on what we are going for check out the vids and pictures  below

              “Tactical” Pre-Planning Rules

A week before the battle, regiments will be allowed to sign up for the battle, and are expected to provide rough estimates of troops they can muster. Event organizers will split the regiments
A few days before the battle (to be determined), two regimental commanders (generals for the opposing sides) will get to tour the battlefield (a pre-made map) and be briefed on the objectives and victory conditions.
Each general will have 24-48 hours to consult with their general staffs (5 other players chosen at the general's discretion) to plan their attack or defense. Once the plan is decided, it's up to the general and his staff to disseminate the plan down to lower-level officers and NCOs so everyone has a general idea of what they're doing (which will hopefully avoid the whole “let's just line up behind this rock and run off”)

All regiments will agree to follow these rules before joining the linebattle list. AND ABOVE ALL HAVE FUN!!!!!

              The Battle Of Alexandria
On 21 March, the troops were under arms at 3 a.m., and at 3:30 a.m. the French attacked and drove in the outposts. The French army now moved forward with great rapidity in their usual formation of columns. The brunt of the attack fell upon Moore's command, and in particular upon the 28th (North Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot. The British repulsed the first shock but a French column penetrated in the dark between two British regiments. A confused fight ensued in the ruins, in which the 42nd Black Watch captured a colour. The front and rear ranks of the 28th were simultaneously engaged, whereby the soldiers received the order "Front rank stay as you are, rear rank about turn" and the conduct of the regiment won for it the distinction of wearing badges both at the front and at the back of their head-dress.[2]

Other regiments that assisted in the overthrow of the French column were the 23rd, 40th and 58th. In a second attack the enemy's cavalry inflicted severe losses on the 42nd. Sir Ralph Abercromby was here engaged in personal conflict with some French dragoons, and about this time received a mortal wound, though he remained on the field and in command to the end. The attack on the centre was repulsed by the cool and steady fire of the Guards, and the left wing maintained its position with ease, but the French cavalry for the second time came to close quarters with the reserve.

About half-past eight the combat began to wane, and the last shots were fired at ten. The real attack had been pressed home on the British right, and the History of the Queen's Royal West Surrey Regiment gives no undue praise to the regiments of the reserve in saying that "the determined attack would have been successful against almost any other troops." Technically, the details of the action show that, while not markedly better in a melee than the war-seasoned French, the British infantry had in its volleys a power that no other troops then existing possessed, and it was these volleys that decided the day even more than the individual stubbornness of the men.

The 42nd, twice charged by cavalry, had but 13 men wounded by the sabre. Part of the French losses were caused by the gunboats which lay close inshore and cannonaded the left flank of the French columns, and by a heavy naval gun which was placed in battery near the position of 28 March.

The forces engaged on this day were approximately 14,000 British to about 20,000 French, and the losses were: British, 1468 killed, wounded and missing, including Abercromby (who died on 28 March), Moore and three other generals wounded; and the French, 1160 killed and (?) 3000 wounded.

                The Battle Of Marengo

The battle, a major engagement of the French Revolutionary Wars (wars of the Second Coalition), started developing in the early morning hours of 14 June 1800 and saw the almighty confrontation on the field of honour between the French forces under the sound leadership of Bonaparte, so far acting in the role of prominent figure also on the political scene at Paris, and the Austrian war machine handled with a renewed profusion of zeal by the talented Marshal Melas. Having crossed the Alps at the Great Saint Bernard Pass in May 1800, the French army (totalling nearly 28,000 men) rapidly descended to the plains of Northern Italy.

After the heavily disputed success reported on the Habsburgs troops at Montebello, near Casteggio, the French completed their deployment on the surrounding countries of Fraschetta and around a wretched village named Marengo, a wild environment located some miles from the town of Alessandria.

The 14th day of June, the violence and the stubborn determination of the offensive of the Imperial regiments of Melas overthrew, after long-enduring phases of attrition and hand-to-hand savage combats, the shaken troops of Bonaparte. However, after an inevitable withdrawal had been executed for some miles eastwards – defeat seemed certain; but the strategic situation rapidly changed for the French host, and the battle was reversed.   The counter-attack of the French tactical reserve, lead by Général de Division Desaix de Veygoux was launched, from the neighbouring area of the village of Saint Giuliano Vecchio,

His ultimate intervention brought fresh resources to the front-line and changed the tide of battle for the French.

A lively cannonade threw back the Austrian right wing, and a cavalry charge leaded by the intrepid François Etienne Kellermann had awful results on the ranks of the Imperial Feld Bataillone.

Losses were severe to the belligerents: the French troops lost some 5800 men; the Austrians, 9400.

The battle ended in a French victory; negotiations led to the Austrians evacuating the plains of Northern Italy up to the line of the Ticino River.  Military operations in Italy were suspended. However, the Danubian monarchy remained at war with France; but on December 3, 1800, the Habsburgs eagles were defeated by General Jean Victor Moreau’army at the battle of Hohenlinden.
