Does anyone else go to any of the Cadet groups in Britain? I recently started going, and am wondering if anyone here does too.

Hi, my name is Connor and I'm an alcoholic. I started Army Cadets, in 2010. I'm a Lance Corporal and my affiliated unit is the Royal Welsh.

Just realised, probably should have put my unit :P.
5 Troop, A-Coy, Hants&IOW. Affiliated unit's the Royal Engineers.

Only been going for a few weeks, though.

Our Battalion (Dyfed and Glamorgan) have an engineer detachment. But the F Coy. is QDG, and G Coy. is appropriately affiliated with the Welsh Guards.

In engineers, do you do anything different? I mean past basic cadet skills.

Basically it's Air Cadets without the planes. And a lot more physical activities, and fieldcraft. (Fieldcraft is camouflage and pew pewing.)

Is the cadets like "The scouts" in America?

I mean the same principles ...
Something ya can go to as a child/ teenager if you are too bored at home or your parents arent home or whatever.

Like here in Belgium we have 'the Giro' and 'the Scouts' and a couple of other organisations.
With that difference that "the cadets" are probably a lot more diciplined and drilled.

I guess the conecpt is the same. But I was in scouts till 2010, when I joined cadets. And yeah I guess your right. Although Cadet activities have more variety, in both associations I have made really good friends, and enjoyed time on camps with them.

I'd say, looking at pictures, the Cadet force is a LOT more military-styled then the scouts. I mean, just look at their uniforms and activities.
