There is certain weapons that completely dominated their era of warfare. The Mongol Composite Bow, The Roman Gladius and, to a certain extent, the Musket, to name a few. These should all be mentioned, but when it comes to favorite ones, nothing beats the good M16A3/M1911 Combination.

The light cavalry sabre. I love the Blücher sabre for it's professional look, and the french ones (there are quite a lot of variations) for it's beautiful hilt.

The bastard sword is one of my favourites because of it's versatility and the power it beholds if wielded by a proffesional swordsman of it's era.

Nice choice indeed, not too heavy, always extremely well balanced, and you can use it as one- or twohander

Well depends on time period, medieval times would have to be a spear and shield, out range my enemy.
Napoleonic era, probably the baker rifle.
WW2 Era, I would have to go with the Springfield sniper rifle

Xiphos, Machaira, Kopis, Gladius, Celtic Longsword, Sarissa, and a Flintlock Pistol. I can't pick between these. :P

The composite bow is no mongol invention. Even Rome used it before and every eastern empire/nation since 0AD (?). But of course, the mongols were very successfull with that! :D

As an archeologist I must say: the combination of Gladius, Lorica Hamata/Segmentata and big oblong Scutum. Dominated warfare for 300 years in Europe and middle eastern, and build up an long living empire.

And of course massive tank weapon in combination with CAS. Since 1939 the common military doctrine for offensives until today.

Or should I mention the Air Carrier Group? Just sending one Air Carrier Group to a place can stabilize or destabilize a whole region. This made the USA the dominant power on the globus the last 50 years.
