Barbed wire would be like sandbags. And sandbags can be abused.
Everything can be abused.
But I would make the height of the barbed wire higher so you can't jump over it. Because...it's barbed wire.

If you guys get to the point of developing Americans, I have an authentic, trench worn tunic my great grandad wore in WWI that I would be more than happy to take pictures of so you can get it juuuust right.

Are we going to get the Chauchat? My great grand uncle was killed near Gesnes-en-Argonne with a Chauchat in his hand.

By the looks of the equipement. i wouldn't say it is WW1
