27. Jääkäripataljoona

Clan History of the Battalion
Our clan goes back a long way, we were established on the 10th of June, 2010 by several founding members. The unit is international but most of our members came from the UK, Finland and the USA, we welcomed and still welcome all members into the 27th, our rank system is Finnish and a lot of our stuff operates in both English and Finnish, our titling for example is often in Finnish, hence the unit's name: The 27. Jääkäri Pataljoona, as opposed to the 27th Jäger Battalion. We remained in WW1: Source awaiting the release of Verdun for almost 1 year operating with the 3rd Marines, 105. and other realism units to keep the mod going before the Battalion was forced to disband used to the mod's community slowing to a point where unit activities were almost impossible. However, it has long been clear that the 27. has been intended to reform for a new WW1 mod, and now me and several veterans have decided to reform it here, in Iron Europe.

History of the Battalion and the Jaeger Movement
In 1915, during the First World War, the Grand Duchy of Finland had been a semi-independant part of the Russian Empire as the Finns would revolt and the Russians would struggle to control Finland if they didn't give it semi-independence, however Tsar Nicholas the 2nd decided to 'Russianize' Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia and Finland, the Finnish government was no longer running the country and Finnish was no longer been taught in schools, massive uproars took place, in 1915 about 2000 volunteers ilegally left Finland with risk of execution if caught by the Russian soldiers, they then went through Sweden and Denmark down into Germany and became an elite unit within the German Army fighting against Russia to liberate their homeland, they were known as the 27th Royal Prussian Jäger Battalion. They fought long on the Eastern Front without even proper equipment until 1916, and yet did serious damage to the Russian forces, the Jägers fought until 1917, when, they left the army (essentially this was desertion as it was not allowed by the Germans who wanted them to fight on the Western Front now that Russia had dropped out of the war and gone into Civil War, however it is likely the German officers, sympathetic to their anti-Communist cause, simply allowed them to leave), one Jäger called Samuli Sihvo wrote the song of "Jääkärimarssi" (Jäger March) and had it transported through Norway by a Finnish girl who gave it to Jean Sibelius who was a famous Finnish Nationalist composer who defied the "Russianization" by writing patriot music of Finland to protest. When the Jägers returned to Finland they formed the 27th Finnish Jager Battalion and fought with the 'Whites' (Nationalists, Monarchists and Liberals) against the 'Reds' (Bolsheviks and Communists) in the Finnish Civil War until the Communist surrender, they became famous in the civil war for recapturing the capital city of Helsinki and the major city of Turku. The jägers continued as an elite unit in the Finnish Army and were renamed to the Kymi Jääkäri Pataljoona (Kymi been a city in Finland that later became part of the larger city of Kotka). When the USSR invaded Finland in 1939 the Jägers were in the most bloody battles, in the Mannerheim Line in the south of Finland and the famous land of Karelia, during one battle the Jägers ambushed a division of Soviet Forces with just 6000 men against 25'000 Soviets, the battle resulted in under 400 Finns dead, 5000 soviets dead or missing, about 1000 Soviets wounded, and 4000 captured, hundreds of soviet tanks were destroyed (the Finns had 39 tanks during the whole war in total). After the winter war the Finnish Jägers remained and still remain just under the name of the Finnish Jägers as an elite unit of Finnish soldiers who now train the Swedish Special Forces for winter warfare. The commander of the 27th Jäger Battalion during WW1 was Major Maximilian Bayer (1872-1917) who was killed in action at Verdun (he was not finnish as the finns were discriminated in the German Army unless they acquired German Nationality which was not easy during the war-time, he was killed after being transferred out of the 27th Jäger Battalion).

Our Claim
I am well aware that a '27th Royal Prussian Jäger Battalion' has already been announced, however, while we fully respect this group and it's members, we claim the title as our unit was established years ago and our members have already been wearing the tags in Iron Europe. We do not expect them to relinquish the title and hope that both units may continue. As well as this, we are not using the tags "27th" and so I do not think it should be a problem, as we use the tag "27JP" in Iron Europe. As well as this our units history can be taken to be somewhat separate, as ours' is based upon the Jägers of the Finnish Civil War more so than the the 'Prussian Jäger Battalion' that consisted of Finns. So I suggest that both groups be maintained, simply with seperate names: The '27th Royal Prussian Jäger Battalion' and the '27. Jääkäri Pataljoona'.

As well as asking this of the community moderators, we ask recognition from our 27th brothers, we respect your Battalion, and ask you respect ours, we have been planning this a long time and simply ask that both can continue to exist, we can be taken to be a separate battalion, ours of the Civil War and your's of WW1 fighting for Germany, given the Finnish Civil War took place during 1918 I do not see why this should pose any historical problems, both units should be allowed to continue to exist, simply with different names and different tags.

Just to summarize and qualify this, we believe both should be allowed to continue simply with seperate names:
The 27th Royal Prussian Jäger Battalion
27.  Jääkäri Pataljoona

Seperate Histories; our's based on the Finnish Jägers of the Civil War (1918) and there's of the Finnish Volunteers in the German Army of 1915.

And separate tags:

27th_

Our Legitimacy as a lasting, old unit is here:

https://steamcommunity.com/groups/27thpublicrealism

Of course these groups and forums need to be reformed and brought up to date with our new presence in Iron Europe. We have our friend Mr. Kochi from the 47th working on developing Battalion skins for the 27. JP based on Finnish Civil War uniforms, here are the latest screenshots:

If interested in joining contact Eversti Randall (can be found on steam as 'PiePower or under the account Strangler69):

Our Enlistment Policy
All people are welcome to join as Vpe. (Volunteer), you are judged by maturity in this group but we are also a fun bunch. As long as you can be respectful to other members, public players and attend Battalion events you will soon gain Jääkäri rank.
The exceptions to going through the Vpe. rank are:
Veterans of the 27th Jager Battalion for WW1: Source will be restored their previous rank upon joining.
All trusted members of our sister group in NW, the 47th Lancashire Regiment of Foot (above the rank of Recruit) are given the rank of Jääkäri.

To join please post here: http://kymijaakarit.motionforum.net/f1-enlistment

We also respect our sister clan the 47th Regiment of Foot for NW and thank them for the help in setting up for Iron Europe, many of the members of the 27. are also in the 47th. If anyone is interested in joining an Napoleonic Wars Regiment, this is the finest you can find: https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/index.php?topic=13068.0

We are already planning on setting up a server of atleast 50 slots and have a good number of members both veterans and new. If you want to join us, organise an event with us, or just have fun on our server, you are welcome :) We want to make it clear and established that the 27. Jägers have returned, and we seek to build a respectable reputation as being friendly, fun, and feared Jägers :).

I believe there is already a 27th Jäger Battalion. Might wanna check with them if they are ok with this.

I know, and I explained in the post how I think this issue can be resolved, basically through the 2 battalions taking up seperate tags and slightly different names. I'm going to try to contact their leader to talk with them about it also.

Worth noting I have now spoken to Carbine from the 27th and he's agreed to, so there should be no problem with names :).
